Re: Need cleveland ideas
Chiming in on the JoCo v. Northland discussion - I enjoy the topography of some parts of the northland, like in Parkville and the rural area around Weston. That said, if we wanted to move to the deep suburbs, I would never in a million years choose the northland over JoCo. JoCo is imperfect, of cour...

Re: Troost developments
Isn't OC's current location owned by Redeemer? If so, given Redeemer's actions with the Katz bldg maybe they are cashing in on streetcar development. I would hate to see that corner lost but if it's in the service of something more dense then maybe it's ok.

Re: South Hyde Park
We lived in SHP for 8 years (08 to 16), never had any issues. Have been part of the Hyde Park crime facebook page forever and things seem about the same now. Anywhere in midtown KC will bring an elevated risk of property crime compared to JoCo, but as long as you use good judgment it should be ok (n...

Re: Memorializing Racists
Renaming streets or fountains is, or should be, very easy. I understand renaming a county after almost 200 years would be less easy, logistically, but just as easy, ideologically. No we shouldn't honor Andrew Jackson anymore, frankly. Maybe the county could continue to be called Jackson but there co...

Re: Memorializing Racists
i'm amazed this is even controversial, in some quarters. why on earth should our public spaces be marred with confederate propaganda? they are glorifying treason, insurrection and racism. "heritage, not hate" my ass. what heritage? separatism and slavery? grrrreeat. J.C. Nichols is just as...

Re: beer.
i wish BKS would have slightly more expansive hours. Does anyone know if those are forthcoming? (Putting aside for the moment covid-19). seems like being open to the public 2 afternoons a week would not really cut it?

Antler room takeout is the most impressive we have tried so far - great food specifically developed for takeout, bottled cocktails, wine flights (bottles), etc.

What 35 year old has easier access to a paper utility bill vs. their ID? I don't think I have seen a paper utility bill in 10+ years. This all seems like a bit of a stunt...

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019
Sounds like a calculated effort to increase assessments (or create the appearance of this) in middle/upper class neighborhoods to counteract the disproportionate impact of the 2019 assessments on working class neighborhoods...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
I fly pretty frequently and agree that, while it would be cool to have an iconic or beautiful airport, in the absence of unlimited funds functional is all that really matters. I cannot think of an airport I have ever been to which really "impressed" me and felt like a great place to kill s...

i can't imagine meshuggah will pay the rents that the owner wants for that space. i would guess it's something more like chipotle.

Re: Poll: East of Troost
neighborhoods east of troost in Old NE and the Beacon Hill area are gentrifying pretty rapidly (by KC standards) because they are so close to downtown attractions and jobs. east of troost in the 30s-50s blocks seems to be changing pretty quickly as well. Squier Park appears well on its way to becomi...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
i know nothing about that place but it looks like they have locations in about 15 other cities. looks like they are opening one next year in midtown STL as well, next to IKEA in the new development with Alamo Drafthouse. this seems like a pretty good tenant for the Plaza, right? actually seems like ...
