Re: 1800 Walnut
It's really too bad these aren't condos, they would fly off the market.

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)
This is 100% my favorite project in KC right now. It's going to be massive and really change the face of Main St.

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
There is a big disconnect between Power and Light/CBD and the Crossroads. You don't need to deck the trench to fix that. Highways are a physical barrier that have been used to divide neighborhoods for decades. Capping the highway and creating a park or development is vital to restoring a connection...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
I'm absolutely all for an I-670 deck park a la Dallas. I think the space would be incredible, and likely very well used. However, if given the choice, I'd rather invest ~$100m in a rebuild of Penn Valley Park, our already extant downtown central park, complete with skyline views, wooded bluffs and ...

Two Light reaches full occupancy about a year after opening. Three Light announcements coming soon?

Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)
A few concrete columns are peaking up above ground level on the north side. This project is going to be absolutely massive. Agreed - this project is going to be a game changer. I’m super pumped for the retail on top of the 100s of new unites/residents that will call DTKC home. It’s going to connect...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Great news! While the article highlights the bar/store aspect more than the grocer element, this will bring some more livability to the area. Hopefully this will be a fancy (and probably overpriced...) bodega.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
Wow. KC (potentially) getting a Palm would be a big win. It’s one of my favorite spots in the hamptons and is well know. Not surprising that it’s (potentially) being added given the Tisch family connections.

Great infill project. This area really needs a bodega/some retail. It is dense enough to support it.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
Stop complaining about this hotel. It's an excellent infill project that brings a new and well-known brand to KC. The hotel market is at saturation and couldn't support a bigger hotel (e.g. 2000 rooms) yet. KC is not Chicago -- we are competing with Indianapolis, Louisville, Memphis, St. Louis and m...

Re: 1800 Walnut
Not exactly the building it could have been but is still a huge urban infill project. 18th Street is quickly becoming a dense, fun, walkable part of the XRoads. Cannot wait to see what happens when this project comes to life along with City Club nearby. Combined, both projects will add 550+ housing ...

Not sure if anyone spotted this but a Starbucks is going in the Hampton Inn on Main. I know it’s not an artisanal coffee shop but this is a great value add to the area IMO.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
Drove past this project today and am so impressed - it adds density and a bit of glamour to DTKC. With 800 rooms, it will hopefully add foot traffic to Power & Light and Crossroads too.
Excited to see this come online.

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?
These numbers seem really low to me too. My mom ran a mgmt company on the plaza with 750~ units across midtown/Plaza. They often sat at 100% leased but usually ranged between 90-95%.
New York occupancy rates are usually 95%+. Obviously KC is not NYC but still think these numbers are low...
