Locations for Chiefs/Royals?
If you said that it was long ago. I would have to admit that the idea is novel but not pratical. So quit pushing it.

KCK Loses more business to KCMO/JOCO
Not sure by what you mean by "three plants". It is correct that when Leads closed that was it. The new Fairfax, plant built where the airport was, replaced the old Fairfax plant that was next to the airport. Also, forgot to mention that my mother built planes during WW II at the Fairfax pl...

Locations for Chiefs/Royals?
It is more than a local ordinance. State laws are involved as well as who supplies the beverages.
Why complicate an issue more than is needed. The land, infrastructure, and all is already at the sports complex. It is an ideal location for football and to build there would be so much cheaper.

The Fairfax plant built planes (B-25's I believe) during WW II. Leaving the plant they could be flown from the Fairfax Airport to where they were needed. After the war cars took over. While growing up my neighbor worked at this plant.
The Leeds plant built Chevy's I believe.

Locations for Chiefs/Royals?
A stadium on crossing the state line presents many difficulities. Sales tax rates Law enforcement Liquor laws Income taxes paid by players and entertainers and other issues. Besides, this location would have to have a higher cost for infrastructure improvements. Water lines, sewer lines, streets, hi...

Dismantling of Great Mall (ongoing)
Don't forget. Independence Center was on the ropes for awhile until the population and development occurred around it. The Great Mall will be the same. It was built before the population was there to support it.

KCK did not take the Fairfax plant from KC. The current Fairfax plant replaced an older GM plant located in Fairfax. Believed it was called the BOP plant.

Overland Park Arena?
Who said OP was smart? Attach to the CC would make sense but that is a different development by different developers. That is the problem. It is developers selling the idea and what is best for them, not what may be best for OP.

Overland Park Arena?
Let OP build their arena. It will lose money along with their loser of a convention center.
Really, this arena will not hurt KC's arena. It may take some dates but if Sprint Arena is hurt by this then it doesn't say much for the viability of the arena.

New Riverfront Park Proposed...
Well, at least tiny Sugar Creek has a plan for its riverfront. Kansas City still cannot seem to get to the plate with its dream for the riverfront.

How true of KC is this statement?
akp...I don't agree with that. When I tell people I'm from KC, they bring up the Chiefs/Royals/BBQ/Plaza...never say wow that's a cowtown or act like it's a small place. Come on. I brought up the cowtown quote as a lark. However, don't forget about all the uproar about the cattle drive through down...

How true of KC is this statement?
Are people talking about KCMO itself or the KC region? If one is talking about KCMO the one thing that hurts is the geographical size of the city, so much undeveloped or underdeveloped land that does not help the tax base. Another is the Hancock Amendment that requires a popular vote for a tax incre...

How far is too far to walk?
Amount of time to walk is relative. 10 minutes is too much in a blizzard or in a cold hard rain or if it is 110 degrees out. 30 minutes or more on a nice spring or fall day with birds chirping is not enough. Where I live walking is not much of an option unless you are out to just take a walk. Howeve...

Study: Living in the Suburbs Can Make You Sick
How many hits can a tub take before it shatters? Recently I had a high school reunion. Looking at the current student body, and in my mind comparing it to the kids I graduated with, I don't believe the current kids are fatter. They are bigger in height and corresponding weight, but fatter - no. Of c...

Chiefs
I am optimistic about the Chiefs. Optimistic that they are not going to the Super Bowl. Or is it the Supper Bowl? Or the Stupor Bowl? Doubt that the offense will be as good as last year and little or no improvement in the defense. They may even be a long shot to make the playoffs. Well, I was parti...

The main smells are from the primary sewage treatment plant that is one the west side of 435 and south of Front Street. You will not move that plant because of the Blue River nearby and the sewage lines already in the ground. There is also a secondary sewage treatment plant on the east side of 435 a...
