Re: Should Mark VanLoh resign as Aviation Director?

Missouri is in the top 10 for lowest state taxes in the US.

Maybe sales taxes are higher in Kansas City than in New York because Kansas City receives less state money than New York.

I know, I know, don't feed the troll.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

The suggestion that these "business leaders" speak for the average business traveler is absurd. Personally, I think the current version of KCI is great for frequent travelers who live in KC. But it is 42 years old and will have to be replaced eventually. Since it will probably take 10 year...

Gosh, ya think Yael will point out how misrepresentative the results of the Star's vehicle survey were?

My guess is he is very pleased with the misinformation he distributed.

A lot of talk, but no conceptual design.

Hard to evaluate without any specifics at all.

Re: Politics

As far as centerist Dems go - I think the Obama experience has proven beyond a doubt that you can not negotiate with republicans. Obama has made many concessions to republicans and in the end those concessions got him basically zero votes from republicans in congress. That is why the public option w...

Re: Politics

Are libertarians for open immigration? A true libertarian would view national boundaries as an artifical construct of government. They would find the concept of restricting the movement of individuals accross national boundaries to be government gone amuck. After all, according to the chart number o...

http://pascolp.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/image033.jpg As a lefty that seems to be a gross oversimplication of liberal positions. Liberals want good government based on sound policy and specific circumstances. I know of none that want to heavily regulate every industry. But we do believe, for e...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Security waits are not a significant problem at KCI.

But for the sake of discussion, lets assume they are - what is your proposed solution? Even longer waits like at other airports?

The economic case for buying a house just keeps getting weaker.

Houses are not great investments.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Putting people through silly rituals at airports raises the threat of terrorism into their minds - which makes them less likely to object to the surveillance state. The ability to alter human behavior by elevating threats to current conciousness has been demonstrated repeatedly in countless experime...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Interesting. So KCI is so oversized they are shutting down one terminal but parking is way too crowded and the terminals are so small they may have to move security to the parking garages.

It all seems so confusing. Makes one suspect there may be a hidden agenda here.

Re: drug testing costs MO more than it saves in welfare paym

I was just trying to make a simple point. Drug testing for pot is stupid. If they want to test for Cocaine, that is another matter. But I doubt if they would catch very many people at all and it almost certainly would not be cost effective. Who the hell cares if an adult has shared a joint with some...

Drug testing for pot is stupid. Pot stays in the system for three weeks. Coke stays in the system for 3 days. Drug testing litterly drives people towards cocaine.

It has never been about what is good for the person being tested or public health. It is all about money and politics.

Here is a good example of why the Star loses so many readers. Yael "I hate Kansas City" Abouhalkah's latest (attempted) hatchet job on Mizzou. Does this op ed make any sense to anyone? http://www.kansascity.com/2013/12/30/4719925/two-mizzou-football-videos-expose.html How in the heck does ...

Supposedly, Mizzou did pretty well ratings wise in KC Saturday. A tweet from Danny Parkins of 610 sports. Not sure if all these events were on at the same time or if they were on at different times on Saturday. I interpret this language to mean these are local area ratings - not national ratings. Bu...

You misunderstood me Grid. I didn't mean to criticise placing baggage claim on a lower level. Just explaining why it wasn't on the map I posted. I don't have any problem finding the right baggage claim at KCI. I do think bags tend to come out faster at KCI than at most other airports. The reasons be...

Since Grid talked up the Baltimore-Washington International airport, I thought the termimal map might be of interest to some. Baggage claim is on the lower level. http://www.bwiairport.com/files/pdfs/bwi_maps/UL120213.pdf Doesn't look good to me, but different strokes for different folks. I could no...
