Re: Missouri Amtrak Service

I assume this is a clever way to study rail to the airport? I am admittedly not fully in the loop these days, but when this was announced it was the first I'd heard of any interest in reconnecting St. Joe to KC. Could overlap but this is really about St Joe and Omaha service (MSP later). MoDot had ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I get that the Royals had zero obligation to speak to or provide any assistance to business tenants who would be displaced, but purely from a practical and public relations standpoint, it clearly would have been a good idea to reach out to business owners and get them on board. Greasing the skids a...

I do miss Chefburger Still my favorite all time P&L tenant. IN MY OPINION: I really wonder what would have happened had its legs not been cut. Lots of places start strong but then taper off. It was good though! I'm glad BRGR is there, and I like it but it's not quite as good. Still wonder why w...

I really appreciate the change to the street, but unprotected bike lanes should be struck from the design manual.

Sigh. Pretty frustrating too since thanks to everyone else's good work in the area she will definitely make out well when she eventually does retire/sell.

Also closing Oak St is no bueno, especially when it appears to be just to allow for the real estate development portion of the stadium.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

There will be many ways fans will end up on the street level but the bridge over Truman is clutch to help provide a nice, safe way for fans to move about without needing to cross at Truman Street level. Sorry man, but the bridge sucks, and you know I am inclined towards this site. Let me be more po...

Oh man, skepticism warranted. What is with the bridge? Kansas City will you never learn to put pedestrians at street level.

Lots of room for skepticism at this point (still pre-announcement) but the idea that we need to light it all on fire before we've even seen a detail is just like, a level of vigor I no longer possess.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I've enjoyed following the debate throughout this thread. Excited to see what the Royals have come up with. To me, the design/plan will make or break this; they need to follow through on whatever they promise moving forward, including ancillary development and/or cap park integration. I actually th...

I continue to work to wrap my mind around just how good the Chiefs are and the successes that one might expect in the future if things continue going well. Like, I see it, I've watched it, I've been reading about it all morning...but the last 5 years remain surreal to me.

Re: Overhaul of Kansas City incentive policies

How would you approach adjusting the length and % of the abatement? One thought I had is to make the abatement process less subject to negotiation. The more discretion and negotiation, the more it matters who your lawyer is, or how your relationship with a certain council member is, etc. If it was ...

Totally agree, but in the interim the posts are cheap and quickly installed. They offer no protection from cars, but they do delineate the space better than just a stripe.

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

Odd takes. The stadium development area will be 1,100+ units & a 300+ unit Cordish project also to come. Will be the densest few acres in KC, a great urban node for the streetcar. Things could change, but these have more on the board than almost any other projects in the city rn. I'm definitely...
