Re: Westport
I don't have an issue with a sales tax CID but .75% seems kinda steep. And why aren't the City Place apartments, Hotel Westport and and Westport Flea Market included? Add in those businesses and reduce the sales tax amount a bit.

Re: Misc Crossroads News
JoyceKC posted on Facebook on Sept 6 that Howard said construction was done and city and fire inspections were passed but didn't have all the money needed to get furniture, plates, glassware and train staff. He told Joyce that he hoped to get a to-go menu up in the next couple of weeks (this was a m...

Downtown KCK would be a great option if the UG ever gets serious about focusing on downtown/east side development.

Re: Capping the Loop
I feel like with so many images/renderings showing the bandstand, which is situated over Walnut, there is already an assumption by the developers that Walnut will be closed. If not, it seems like there would need to be some redesign to keep that as part of the plan. There's a lot to like with the de...

Re: downtown airport news
i realize there isn't much land to work with, but is it feasible (not taking $ into consideration) to reposition the runways to create different flight paths or do the height restrictions apply to a general radius no matter which way air traffic occurs?

This is pretty exciting and looks great...as long as flood control is still a priority and all new amenities are built to withstand flooding now and then. The skate ribbon is particularly novel to the metro and part of a great list of amenities.

'No one rents apartments in these new buildings' or arguments like these places are too expensive (used by opposition to new development along 39th) are laughable. It seems like the residents of the buildings to the south are pissed off that their downtown views would be impacted.

Sierra is owned by HomeGoods/TJ Maxx. It has some nice stuff and some nice overpriced stuff, but let's not kid ourselves that this is a top retail draw. The Wichita location is next to a freeway in a worn out strip mall next to Aldi, Ross and TJ Maxx.

Neighborhood Planning & Development Committee voted unanimously to recommend placement on Kansas City Register of Historic Places. Would save from demo for at least three years. Now will rest with vote of entire City Council. Even with protection the owners can gut the interior to the point of ...

Every image states 'for visual depiction only.' That means the stadium designs will change so don't get too set on materials and such at this point.

That intersection was always a cluster. I like this project but wish it had more visual character. Right now it fits right in with the old condo building to the east.

Re: NE Corner of 14th & Wyandotte (300 unit apartment)
I feel like JW Marriott is the best for convention-related business but isn't 200 rooms a bit small for them compared to other cities? Kimpton and Virgin offer some higher end options that would do well in this market, I think. But bang for the buck I'd have to say a big tourist segment would suppor...

I'm referring to the vote in 2014 to expand the streetcar. Weren't there three options (Main to UMKC, Indep Ave and Linwood) where the Main St extension recommended stopping at UMKC but with the possibility of going all the way down to around 435? Here's a recap of opposition from Brookside resident...

Re: UMKC projects
The reason the streetcar didn't extend through Brookside earlier is that the residents voted against it, iirc primarily because they didn't want the related noise or to lose their beloved trolley trail. How ironic that they don't want to lose something built as a streetcar line to an actual streetca...

I can't imagine any family walking the current infrastructure between US and Pennway Point. I walk this area every morning and it's pretty hostile. I rarely see anyone else, unless they're waiting for the bus. An intervention is necessary on Pershing and West Pennway! And sort of funny this is bein...

After seeing that video on Twitter I have to wonder if there's more to the removal process than was shown? Is it just me or does dour cuts with a tile saw, four drill holes and pulling out the medallion not seem as difficult a process as it was made out to be? Maybe a lot of the medallions broke or ...
