Re: NFL Draft
Because it's the greatest league and extremely entertaining. Idk why that's considered silly. Most people love it. It's debatable what is the "greatest". I think there is definitely a feedback cycle created here largely due to great marketing by the NFL (and the gambling industry). They c...

Re: Politics
Florida is not representative of the national electorate. Right. I do think the majority is ready to move away from the divisive, corrosive politics. Manufacturing boogeymen like "Woke CRT litter boxes filled with trick-or-treat Rainbow Fentanyl!!" might work to frighten the boomer Fox Ne...

Re: Politics
Desantis would absolutely destroy anyone the democrats could run. It's probably not warranted, but I have a little more faith in the American people than that. I don't think they want someone who will use taxpayer funds to fly immigrants who are in this country legally from Texas, into his own stat...

Re: Politics
If Desantis does run I could see a blowout in 2024 vs Biden I'm skeptical. I don't think there is a ton of reliable polling on this, but this site is probably the most comprehensive I could find, and shows an average of Biden over DeSantis, 42.6% to 39.5%, with a large undecided amount of 18%: http...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
If legitimate, it probably puts the Crossroads site to bed as a possibility for the new baseball stadium. Not necessarily. I'm pretty sure this is two blocks or so east of where the stadium would go. Although, if the stadium were to go in the Crossroads, I think this site would be held for somethin...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Baseball stadium moves? Not directly related to a baseball stadium: The proposal includes 180 housing units, with 36 units set aside as affordable housing, 50% AMI, above 6,000 sq ft of ground level commercial space. This proposal was in response to an RFP issued 3/8/2022, due by 4/15/2022, and was...

Re: Main & Armour - Mac Properties
When I said "highrise" I wasn't quite thinking the height of the Lights, but maybe a bit more than 10 stories. Something more like the nearby Edelman and Thompson building. How many stories is that? 12? 14?

Re: Armory Block Redevelopment at 3620 Main
It does seem like things have been progressing behind the scenes with this throughout the year. They did receive CPC approval in July. It looks like it was supposed to go full Council on 8/25, but I just gave a quick look over the minutes and didn't see it on there. Exact has a lot on their plates r...

Re: Main & Armour - Mac Properties
I have always thought that Linwood and Main would be a good spot for some high-rise development. Armour is more centrally located to Midtown, but Linwood is a wider intersection with more open space and the likely E/W streetcar line location. I think there would be less NIMBY opposition to high dens...

Re: Troost developments
There is an "estate sale" currently going on in the old Apollo Theater building (a staging company is liquidating their inventory and having a pop-up sale in the space). I spoke with the guy running the sale and he didn't have any details on future plans for the building, but he said that ...

Re: Troost developments
On one hand, it is good that something is finally happening on this land, but this use is a little disappointing. UMKC has had this land slated for mixed-use development for a very long time. As far back as 20 years ago or so, there was talk of partnering with Rockhurst to build a sort of "coll...

I believe this would go on the NE corner of 25th and Charlotte. I don't know if the above renderings are accurate at all, but this could possibly be one, or both of the towers (if it is a twin tower building) between the numbers 2 and 3.

Amazing! Thanks Chris, does anyone know if anything is happening with the storage building? It was sold to a different storage company earlier this year. Probably remaining storage for the foreseeable future. Are there any rumblings about The Marquette Club at Armour and Forest that Abnos keeps hol...

I found this response from the city regarding a permit for water pipeline excavation to be interesting:
Due to the NFL Draft, all non-emergency excavations in the pavement from the River to Brush Creek, State Line to Chestnut is to be put on hold until the start of May.

Yeah, please no KU football at CMP! Not good for the pitch, plus having the visible lines for football during a soccer match is annoying as hell.

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!
So you can tell me a straight face right now that #21 Wake Forest, also 3-0, has played a tougher schedule? Yes According to Sagarin, KU is 48th and Wake Forest is 39th. Wake Forest has a marginally more difficult schedule at this point point than KU. Surprisingly, Duke (also 3-0) is ranked 78th. S...
