Re: Official: KCMO Light Rail
I'd like to track down the legislation that went into making changes for MAX. If the buses are indeed already equipped to control lights, it is time to make the buses a priority. my guess is that's a needle in a haystack. i would bet that there is no explicit reference other than the ability to con...

Re: Official: KCMO Light Rail
I'm not convinced that they EVER use it. Even when a bus is behind, they are getting stuck at lights. Who is "the city" that is making the decision that MAX isn't a priority? ... Any ideas where to start? ed ford. i'm quite sure this is a policy decision that could be change by the counci...

Re: Most Dependable Car Brands 2007 (3-Year Study)
it's important to note that in the 2004 model year, buick was still using 30-year-old 4-speed transmission and pushrod engine architectures. the regal, century, park avenue, and lesabre were all still being offered. while they were indeed reliable, they were not cutting edge in performance or effici...

Re: Official: KCMO Light Rail
which begs the question, why bother making their own copying the Task Force's plan when they could report on it later? yes, indeed. i will say that it has certainly proven what a shitty communication plan there is for such a major undertaking. had the ATA and task force been out front with their wo...

Fares only account for "approximately 1/5" of the ATA's income. The extra rides are being subsidized. Just want to know where the extra money is coming from. exactly. if those resources were just waiting to be tapped, why not increase frequency every sunday or after 7 p.m. during the we...

Re: Downtown rentable office space
article in this week's biz journal about two buildings -- 720 main and 1125 grand -- that are now on the market and generating interest from out-of-town buyers. A more endemic problem relates to downtown office vacancies that have exceeded suburban rates for several years. But with suburban markets ...

Re: Future of Regional Transit in KC
i would add that voters rejected rail first, then MARC followed with what they thought they could get done. the real fault lies with local elected leaders not championing light rail and convincing voters it was the right thing to do (versus just responding to the 2006 vote, like they are today).

Attention Crossroads Condo Dwellers: Please don't NIMBY this one. That block NEEDS some TLC and it's a block perfectly suited for bar businesses. :) the problem isn't neccessarily with it being a bar, but a 3 a.m. liquor license. if they approach the community association early and address any c...

I've read a study, long ago, that determined that, due to the limestone configuration of the areas under the RCP, that tunneling would be drastically less expensive than other cities. Not sure how that works out, but that would be awesome. I'm sure building stations would be where you'd get cost pr...
