Re: Alleyways

My suburban style, JC Nicols neighborhood south of the plaza doesn't have alleyways, and it didn't have driveways until the late 1930's. I have always assumed the plan was to walk up from the Trolly Trail, but no one driving or riding seems unlikely. I'd love to see some pics from the 1910s/20s to s...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I think it will pass. And I want it to pass so that we get the important part here (the Royals going downtown). But I just can't get over how pathetic than Chiefs proposal was. It's just downright embarrassing. Idc what DCole says, that proposal is shitty for everyone. It is totally unbefitting of ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I’m a little nervous today. Wish we had live coverage and exit polling! I saw KCTenants were up to their lies last night. They were continuing to push the idea that this is a new tax. Belaboring the point. This is a new tax. We passed a 20 year tax that is set to expire. This reNEWS it with 40 more...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The reason I get so long winded in here, is because it's about the only place to have legit debates on the topics at hand with other intelligent people. Sure, you have the occasional fools who share deepfake videos, but it's nothing compared to the literal low intelligence folks who seem to dominat...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Yeah it simply cannot fit between the current curblines of Grand and Oak. Just not happening for an MLB level park. Heck Tmobile struggled to fit in that same width. HAHAHAHAHA, Tmobile literally has a parking lot between the arena and Oak. bro, I needed that laugh.... HAHAHAHAHA I think he meant t...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

It's sold out, so I guess it's popular?

Also we got the fan vote to win the cental. MLB Central had a couple of commentators pick Bobbo Whitt Jr to win AL MVP and Cole Ragans to win AL Cy Young.

I wouldn't bet any money on any of those things but I would take the over on 74.5 games.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

PnL was a lot easier because it had been in the works since the 80's by Stan Durwood. A lot of the properties were being land banked, and no new development had happened in anticipation of Durwood's development going in. Unlike what's happening in East Village, sorry East Crossroads.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I have to think they mean underground infrastructure. Pipes , Power, etc. That is what I was wondering if that is it and that would be a legit difference and cost. I can't believe all that won't have to be moved at either site though as the stadium will go lower than we typically install that type ...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza

The new designs of BAP always show the plaza descending down to grade in front of Municipal Auditorium. With its massive limestone wall, I think there should be a permanent "Art on the Mart" style projection show, like they have on the riverwalk in Chicago. It brings people out! https://w...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

With a big ask from the city for funding KC residents in Jax co will be getting hit twice. I mean not really right? First off the tax being voted on isn’t exclusive to Jackson county residents. It’s a sales tax on anything bought in JaCo by anyone. The city will probably issue municipal bonds that ...

I do too. This isn't a premier league stadium. It's a stadium for a minor sport.* I'm actually surprised it's as nice as it is. Could have easily been roofless. Haters need to adjust their expectations.

*Nothing against NWSL, just an economic reality.

Pork ribs should not fall off the bone. If they do they are overcooked. That will.lose you points in any BBQ competition.

If you like them that way, go for it. But it's outside the standard.

Congressmen take credit for whatever money comes into the community, so they can take the blame for the lack of money too.

Also doesn't look like the project got the $75 million grant from the Department of Transportation's Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods Program https://www.transportation.gov/grants/reconnecting-communities/reconnecting-communities-fy23-awards#:~:text=On%20March%2013th%2C%202024%2C%20U.S.,R...
