Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I fail to see how this crossroads site is superior to EV. It's equal to worse to me. I think the Crossroads site is vastly superior to the East Village. For the sake of argument, let's say there are two possible Crossroads plans (both mentioned in the latest Business Journal article) Plan 1 - Build...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Haven't we torn down enough of downtown and we still haven't learned our lessons? There are viable good stock buildings right there, not much in the area? These are phrases people said in the 60s that we look back and cringe. If you take a every block in the NE Crossroads starting at Grand from Tru...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
This is going to be a long one... If you have a chance to build the ballpark in place of the KC Star printing press, do it and don't think twice. The printing press building is a detriment to downtown and has been since the day it opened. It's a 2-block superblock that only acts a barrier to progres...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
NOTE: This is pure speculation. I've been tracking changes in land ownership downtown since the talks about a downtown stadium to see if I can get a jump on where it's going to be located. So, I occasionally hit the parcel viewer to see if I notice any ownership changes (I haven't). However, I remem...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?
Grant Wahl is reporting that FIFA is considering 4 team groups instead of 3 team groups at the 2026 World Cup to avoid teams playing to mutually beneficial results (i.e. teams play for a certain result so both teams can advance out of the group stage) With 3-team groups everyone in the group obvious...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I'm inclined to think that if the only person on here who has seen the proposed renderings / pitch deck for the new stadium is someone associated with Cordish, that the site for the new stadium directly involves Cordish in some fashion. That leads me to believe that the proposed location is either t...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
We don’t need the stadium itself to spark more development. I agree with this sentiment 100%, and think the closer they can get it to existing amenities the better for KC. I'm just saying that one of the benefits for the owners of moving downtown is to profit off the move by developing around it. T...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
One problem with locations like the jail site, the 12th & Grand site, and Washington Square Park is the lack of space for spin-off development. Its seems like a known fact that Sherman and the group want to profit off of ancillary development around the stadium and these locations don't leave mu...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
There was talk about it going next to P&L and the old jail site at one point I've been periodically checking in on the Jail site, the North Loop, and the East Village on the KCMO Parcel Viewer for years to see if the land was changing hands (which I figure would be the first indicator of the Ro...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?
Just a random reflection on today's events: I don't think KC would have been selected without the "gathering room" at P&L district from past soccer matches/World Series/Super Bowls. The images and videos from past events give KC a measure of credibility as a "big" city that o...

Based on the sidewalks shown in the diagram, I think you can discern that the location is even with the 2 streets named Berkely Plaza. I think the two rocks in this photo are in the diagram as well. Here's a Streetview.

Looks like 'The Dylan' might be coming back online... A development plan permit was submitted today for a 12 story building, above 4 below-grade levels of parking with 342 units, along with street-facing commercial and pedestrian improvements. No viewable attachments as of yet. Most of the parcels m...

Here's this development's rezoning permit that has an attachment with a thorough rundown of their plans for the West Bottoms. I only have had time to give it a very cursory look - but the timeline, developments on each block and streetscape plans can be gleaned from this document.

This project is looking for incentives from the LCRA on 3/22. Some details from the agenda and application... 225 market rate apartments all 1 or 2 bedroom 25 affordable studios 2nd and 3rd floor left undeveloped because knocking out windows on this level would preclude getting historic tax credits ...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion
But at what cost? KC can't even get a single county on the same page with transit, let alone multiple counties and two states. I'm just saying why not concentrate on the largest county that contains the vast majority of the attractions and transit need. Something that would not be dragged out for y...
