I can't believe no one else picks Peachtree. I'll take it over Strouds anyday.
Re: 1034 Main
Every day I walk by this abomination of design that spans the entire block from Main to Baltimore and wonder why, if we must have parking, the garage is only two levels high. It is a small consolation to know there is at least a plan for something more. Does anyone have any recent pictures of wh...

Re: Shooting in front of Library Parking Garage
The difference here is that when these things happen in the suburbs , we dont usually see it on the sidewalk. Â It doesn't appear to be random crime though, so any intelligent person will know that it in no way reflects the safety of downtown. Â Bad stuff can (and does) happen everywhere.

Nothing like looking down from your apartment to see a bloody man on the sidewalk to start the day. Yikes.

http://www.kansas.com/images/kansas/kansas/13010/169268022090.jpg Just one of the proposed sites...the east and west sides of the arena are both separated from the street by surface parking. Couldn't they at least situate it so that arena fronted the street at a corner? Imagine the outcry on he...

Re: Wichita Arena gets begrudging support from local lawmakers
Amazing--they are building an arena downtown with what looks like parking all around it. So much for the pedestrian experience. What a waste.

I just finished Whitney Terrell's The King of Kings County. Although technically fiction, it is a great story about the development of the interstate highways and the white flight to JoCo.

Re: 670 Bridges to be demolished and rebuilt.
It is quite realistic, not sad. When the builder has limited funds something has to give. Besides, the current bridges do have sidewalks, it's just that the community wants more than just the standard sidewalks that would be included in the new bridges . Well how about make the traffic give? T...

It's pretty sad that sidewalks are considered an extra feature

Looks like they are getting ready to tear this thing down. A fence is up around it blocking the sidewalk and a lane of Baltimore.

Re: Union Carbide building to become condos
Is there anything in this building right now? It seems unnecessary that more parking is needed on that block...the library garage is not that far away and never looks too full.

Re: Pandhandler Scams
I encountered a guy in Westport using the out of gas story during the Art fair. Â I talked to him for a good ten minutes. Â He kept telling me how his clothes were clean, wanting me to smell him. Â He finally stormed off when I kept saying I couldn't help him. A couple of weeks ago the "down pa...

Re: No More One-Way Streets in Downtown...
I disagree with this. I find it much easier to cross a one way street, you don't have to worry about cars coming at you from both directionsstaubio wrote: 2-way streets will also make the street a little less scary for pedestrians.

Yeah, I don't see the big deal with every street being two way. It isn't that hard to jog over a block.
They put the new lights up at 10th & Main yesterday.

Re: No More One-Way Streets in Downtown...
Is Main St. south of 10th being converted to two way traffic? It looks like a new lights have been put up at 11th/Petticoat & Main facing what would be Northbound traffic.
