Re: Corbin Park (135th and Metcalf)

Not really sure what mgsports was responding to, perhaps he can give us more clarity. As far as the Liongate development on 143rd and Metcalf, I would not call it a mistake, but probably premature. It is certainly not my favorite development in JOCO, but I do not think that it could be called a mist...

Re: Corbin Park (135th and Metcalf)

Even though in the early days of the planning of Corbin Park the stated there would be an "upscale" grocer in the center, I doubt if WF would locate in the center. Most new WF markets are around 60,000 to 80,000 square feet.  Unless a major anchor has backed out, I don't think there is any...

I think the etax is for anyone working or living in KCMO.  If you live in KCMO and work outside of the city, you still have to pay the etax.

Re: Greensburg tornado hit 1 year ago

There is going to be a program on Discover Ch. on Friday, June 13th.  I saw the previews, it looks worth a glance. I saw this program on Planet Green network last night, it has been repeated several times on Discovery and PG.  It is actually a thirteen part series, sort of like a reality show chron...

90 Million $ Expansion for BOA Data Center

http://cll.bizjournals.com/story_image/120987-400-0.jpg?rev=2 Great plus and a vote of ecomonic confidence for the Northland and Platte County.  It excites me to see major places of employment springing up in the metro, instead retail. :) http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/stories/2008/06/16/sto...

I thought BATS was in Briarcliff not The Plaza.
Even then a curious move.

Yeah, I think everyone did, and I think the scale of disappointment is largely a reaction to the original ambition.  If the current plan was the original, and actually implemented as such, I think excitement would be higher. Re: Olathe and 3 closed Italian eateries

I think that they should extend Black Bob on to 159th St as a four lane artery (the street actually becomes Lackman again when it gets to 159th).  OPK is widening the road to Pflum and there is a lot traffic increasing from the new housing going on south. I own a rental property near 151st and Alden...

I was not aware until yesterday that the same company that is involved with the Overland Park TIF for Cherokee South Center is doing the Brywood Centre TIF on 63rd Street in KCMO

That makes it more impressive than I first imagined.  The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach CA is only 1.1 million gallons.

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway

I hope there was a typo in the KC Star article on the size of the proposed aquarium.  60,000 gallons is not that big.  The new Bass Pro in Independence has 30,000 gallons.  They will have to really spread the water around to accomodate a 70,000 s.f. facility.

:D
One other thing I forgot, the Penobscot Building downtown is worth a visit.  When I was there there was a gallery and sort of a small musuem.  The art and detail of the building is amazing.  IMHO one of the most remarkable 20th century buildings outside of NY and Chicago.

Re: Detroit

Greektown is nice, although I think it was nicer before the casino was built.
I think you can't judge metro Detroit's development progress fully unless you go to Troy, Livonia, etc.
Pics from a Troy flyby would be great.

I heard in the current construction against the highway will have a Paddy Quigleys and Quiznos.   I love Paddys and now I do not have to drive to that G-D awful Quiznos on Lackman and College. Is the one on Lackman and College still there?  When I lived in Lenexa I always went to the one on 87th by...

This will be only an office, and probably a nice one at that.  The hotel is small (144 rooms) and will be incorporated in the complex.  This won't  even begin to happen until around 2010.

Grundfos USA Plans New National HQ in Lenexa

This news is a bit late, but it was called to my attention by a friend in real estate this a.m. at breakfast in Lenexa. During the April 15th Lenexa city council meeting, Grundfos, a Danish pump manufacturer (the worlds largest) proposed to move and build their new North American headquarters in Len...

Re: Overland Park's First TIF

The rumors of Tri-Land raising rents have been going on for some time.  From what I understand it was brought before the OPK city council also.  That could be one of the reasons the approval took almost a year from 2007.  Personally I would not be surprised if it were true. The next TIF planned for ...
