Re: East Side Development

22nd is not an easy street to have good frontage on in this exact spot. There is a big grade change here.

This proposal looks nice. With all the modern new houses nearby I like to see this contrast. It's right by Belger Crane Yard Studios. Good location!

Always liked this building, but I think it would be better as housing. It always seemed half empty (not sure if it is).

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I see some ppl on social media calling for the plaza to be demolished to make way for a new Royals stadium. Really? Really!? People really don't appreciate what we have. The Plaza as a built-environment is nearly perfect. (ample parking that is all hidden away, beautiful landscaping, attractive buil...

No loss. That's a prime space. Hopefully they will get a less common retailer on there.

The case to preserve 4526 Warwick continues. The owners claimed 'economic hardship' to allow for the demolition of the grand old house. The case was heard at the Historic Preservation Commission meeting on Friday and was denied. The next step may be court. The house is safe for now. https://fox4kc.c...

CAVA is 'temporarily' closing. Their plan is to expand their food and drink options.

Hope they do come back. I haven't been in a while, but I've always enjoyed it.

Has anything opened in the old Julep space?

All three light buildings have won numerous awards for their designs.
What awards did 2 Light get? That building is a DOG. The rooftop equipment isn't even screened. Looks like shit!

From what I could tell, the façade is fine. They better be able to save it...at least the front. I really love that row of facades.

Re: Former Google Fiber Space on Westport Rd

Yeah, sad project. So much retail space removed for one drive-through joint.

Also, I think they told the neighborhood they were going to retain the 'Volker' monument sign. It looked like that was the first thing they demolished. Might be that they moved it to be reinstalled. Not sure.

Re: Is the Streetcar Extension bringing new development as promised?

I'm feeling disappointed as well. I didn't think the Streetcar was a silver bullet necessarily, but I did think we would see a lot more proposals and construction by now. I'd guess it has to do with lack of available incentives, KC-Tenants sabotage, KCMO's new strict environmental regulations, devel...

Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom

We need to get a law passed that nothing can be torn down without an approved plan and funding in place for whatever will replace it. No demolition for surface parking, period. At least within the RCP.

I hope we are all jumping to conclusions and the building is not going anywhere.

Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom

Fences up at the old Salvation Army building on Linwood set to be torn down. Oh no! I hadn't heard about a plan to demolish. That is a nice structure. Seems like a logical conversion to apartments or maybe a boutique hotel. Nice large windows. A first level that comes to the sidewalk and looks like...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Random question, what was there before the glass KC Star building? Was it just an empty lot? Same shit that's in the rest of the east crossroads. 80% parking and a few little barely used low rise industrial buildings. I'm pretty sure there was a taller building there that got demolished, maybe a 7-...
