Re: Kansas City optimism

Not sure how helpful it is to get into city vs. suburb arguments. If we want to sell people on the virtues of urban living, we need to sell those virtues to people who already live here. If we can sell it to them, it will be easier to sell to those who are moving here for the first time.

Kansas City optimism

Does anyone else think that people in Kansas City lack optimism? We are hyper-critical of our town. When people move here from other places, they are often asked why they would choose kansas city. What image does that project to newcomers and visitors? IMO, lack of optimism and positive thinking is ...

Market volatility

I'm not an expert in the stock market but does anybody think that the volatility in the stock market is a result of manipulation? Speculation and fear cause billions of shareholder value to be gained or lost over a short period. Some sectors of the economy report healthy financials and yet the marke...

Re: Tiger Woods

Two thoughts:
1.  Anyone who has achieved any kind of success knows what they are capable of.  Tiger needs to trust his own instincts and realize that he is the same guy who kicked ass for more than a decade.
2.  Why would we bring up Tiger Woods in this forum?

Re: 45th, Rockhill & W Gilham

Went by and did notice th "all way" stop sign.  Seems dangerous because people on one of the legs that stops will assume that incoming east-bound lane from Gillham will also stop.

Re: Kansas City has a new mayor - Sly James

not really.  as far as i know, kyle doesn't work for the mayor's office, and i am pretty sure sly wouldn't try and circumvent prohibitions on nepotism for kyle to do so.   but yeah, this is obviously stupid behavior and it's embarrassing, but unless there is a hell of a lot more to this story than ...

I will drive through there today and report what I see.
Imo, a stop sign on the west bound leg would be dangerous.  Cars coming up the hill don't have enough time as they come up the hill.

I keep coming up with ideas.  We should name it clay, attach a clipboard, and park it in front of the sun fresh in westport.

Re: City leaders want public art piece removed

The piece to me is genious.  "Modern Communication" reflects the state of communication, particularly political discourse.  An asshole standing on his briefcase/soap-box, inserting his foot in his mouth, and not listening to anyone or unable to see anything.  It's timeless.

Re: Kansas City has a new mayor - Sly James

Seems like they are going to great pains to link the remarks to ethics reforms.  Awkwardly so. If James had asked me, I've would've advised him to dance around the controversy by saying that the intended meaning of the remarks was to emphasize that the buck stops with him and no one else. Oh well. L...

Re: Polsinelli Shughart HQ @ 47th/Broadway

This could also be a strategy PS is using to get the KC City Council to move ahead to approve the plan. No chance.  Plan is withdrawn so there is nothing to approve. Council would not have passed this.  The opposition gave money to Ford and Sharp, both of whom are on the plans and zoning committee....

Lots of whining in TKC over the transition team. I'm sure some people felt jilted.
Too early to start the death watch.
