Re: Black & Veatch evaluates office space needs
"Has to be" and "have to be" makes sense only with centralized planning. In this country free capital and market forces have determined the shape of our cities. Along with the government subsidization of freeways.

Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction
Very similar to Disney Hall in LA, but smaller. Noticed the tower crane going up next to 16th St. The height and isolation of that crane is in itself going to make a dramatic impact on the skyline.

Actually that site shown on the north (left) bank of the river is KCMO. The neighborhood is Harlem. The Harlem Royals.

You mean the "Shopper's Parkade?" The exterior sure has deteriorated. But without the retail space where would the bailbondsman set up shop?

Looking at these photos makes me feel like an FFA bluejacket craning his/her head up at the tall buildings. Oops, wrong town.

Re: Road trip! Excelsior Springs!
With the currrent popularity of massage and spa treatment and natural healing it seems that the town could be revived as a new age center. Worked for Eureka Springs which is far from any metro population.

As happened at the View, the fine will be less than the $$ saved by the do-it-yourself asbestos removal.

Re: Manhattan Condos 700 West 8th
Now that all of the aluminum windows in the penthouse have been replaced with black framed black glass, this building is looking surprisingly sharp. When all of the glass balcony railings are installed the old dowager will have a sleek new bonnet!(makes the renovation of the Metropolitan appear som...

Re: Road trip! Excelsior Springs!
Too bad they have torn down so many of the buildings. This town has so much potential to be a charming place for a quick getaway from KC. Sorry it has slid so low, must have been quite a place 80 years ago with the dozens of hotels and people staying for weeks to take the waters.

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser
The (new) lighting on the top of city hall has been extinguished for several weeks now. Does this have anything to do with the economizing of our new mayor?

I noticed when driving south over the KC Terminal Viaduct how the design of the windows going into the top floor echos those windows in the original museum buildings on the Liberty Memorial.

Re: Dead pigeons
I don't think it could be West Nile killing them as that it spread by mosquitos and there is not much of a population of them yet due to the cold weather. Poisoning pigeons could be bad news for out DT raptors that prey on them, the numerous hawks and few falcons. Some people in my building allowe...

Re: 1201 Walnut garage redevelopment?
The owner of the building on McGee is just waiting for an offer. The last he told me was that there was interest in a major convention hotel on that block. Something is truly screwed up if after millions in public investments in the neighborhood that market forces do not cause this primest of pri...

Not until June 9. There is still time to join F of A and go to the opening party on the 8th for $50.
