Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
wtf? frank friggin' gehry wants to design it? UM, HELL YES. this would be a huge boost to the area. newspapers all over the world dedicate significant column space to Gehry everytime he sneezes. having him design a major building in KC's "renaissance" would raise our profile substantially....

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
i'd love to see a HoB in KC, and KC Live is just the perfect place for it. i am tired of having to go to Lawrence for the small/mid-sized shows that often come to HoB's. (e.g. The Shins, The Rapture, indie hip-hop, etc.). is anyone else excited that a high-profile KC project is ACTUALLY getting off ...

Quiznos coming soon to Quality Hill
quiznos = quality. devin - i know you can get that stuff at odyssey martial arts supply on blue ridge in far north raytown, but you probably already knew that. my roommate went to turkey and get a cool dagger and a sword for like $10 total. THEN he carried them on his lap on the flight back. needles...

lamar's is good. there used to be a place at like 103rd and state line (or something) called Fluffy Fresh that was 1000% better than lamar's. their longjohns and twists were like 14 inches long! then fluffy fresh sold to new owners and they drove it into the ground. i dont know if it's still there o...

single family suburban....LOFTS???!?!?!
http://www.terraverdearch.com/Residential/Loft0.htm this is a community in frederick, colorado, about 30 miles from denver, where a developer has built a subdivision of single-family homes that are built like urban industrial lofts. it is pretty close to the New Town at Longmont community which has ...

Furniture Store Opening at 16th and Walnut
isn't there already a store downtown that sells super-pricey modern furniture? on Main, perhaps?
either way, i hope it does well. when i get out of law school i'll need a place to buy furniture. (of course, at these prices i'll be lucky to get a lamp.)

LC's BBQ
i really think LC's is the best bbq in kc. the meat is so lean and delicious, the sauce is perfect, the french fries are the best i've ever had. it's simply the best. and the people who work there are so friendly. for those who havent been - GO. it's at Blue Parkway (aka 47th aka Emanuel Cleaver) an...

OFFICIAL: Crossroads additions (ongoing)
maybe this has already been done, but i wonder if someone would like to compile a "Crossroads Directory" for all to see. the Downtown Directory rules the school, and a list of things that are in the Crossroads District (and upcoming projects going in there) would be awesome too. residentia...

Worst Serial Killer In KC History
i suppose i could look this up, but what about Bob Burdella (sp?).
didn't he kill 6 or 7 people and torture them and kill them and put them in his yard or his fridge?
there was a cool Court TV special about him a few years ago.

Problems with development style of South Loop
^ while i question the validity and necessity of the term "metrosexual," i am glad it exists. i am skinny, have spiky blonde hair, wear Diesel and Banana Republic and A/X and the like, listen to house music, formerly had earrings and a tongue-ring, like to dance, like interior design/archi...

heheheh.
i think that superior ticket sales for Yanni and Fleetwood Mac is an awesome thing to "feel good" about.
on a related note, one time in high school i convinced my friend Chad that he resembled Yanni (he doesn't at all). he started crying as a result.
go omaha!

Another -HUGE BLACK EYE- For Already Burdoned Bartle HALL!!!
maybe we should build our convention centers entirely underground, so as to avoid incompetent pilots from flying into them. maybe the gateway arch should be dismantled so planes don't fly into it. maybe we should all live in hobbit holes so planes don't fly into our homes. KFB is easily the most bit...

Not Just a BLACK EYE~~ But a HUGE punch to the FACE COMING!
ok, it's a little behind and over budget. WHO FUCKING CARES?!?!? AT LEAST SOMETHING IS HAPPENING!! Gladstone rehabbing one of their little parks under budget is great, but a weak analogy. happy rock park is not the same scale. maybe KC could do better managing its big projects (and this is a big pro...

why not build a new stadium or arena where Bannister Mall is
i dont know about actual hardcore "gangs" in the bloods/crips variety, but very questionable things happened at bannister in the mid-late 90s. there were lots of fights and stuff among teenagers, a couple stabbings. i recall a situation where some teenagers tried to steal an old man's watc...

Opinions on Des Moines Public Library design?
those "brown walls" appear to be tinted windows? is that right?
if so, my original assessment stands.
if they are literally brown "walls," then they should put it back in 1973 where it belongs.

Opinions on Des Moines Public Library design?
i actually really really love it. the design is great. i havent dont any research into it, but i'd wager that the "point" of this library isn't to generate dense/urban type traffic like our library hopes to do. it looks more like a PARK. given that, maybe it fits into the surrounding 'hood...

St. Louis City and now even County still loosing population?
dangerboy is right. st.charles county is quickly becoming like our johnson county. mastercard, international has a giant "campus" out there. there are many such "campuses" in the o'fallon/st. charles area. plus, out there you can get twice as much house for your dollar. for a cit...

something i never understood about the plaza area....
while the plaza is definitely seeing some high-profile (and high-RISE) developments around its periphery these days, i am just wondering what the hell has taken so long? the plaza has clearly been a magnet for a long time - for people, money, and work. in most cities, the area surrounding the plaza ...
