Re: Arena Parking Challenge
I went down to NARA Friday night about the same time the Van Halen concert was going on. 5 blocks from the Sprint Center there was street parking and the Barkley Parking Garage (across from Bazookas) was charging $5 and had maybe 10 cars in it. The concern about Sprint Center Parking seems so laug...

Re: OFFICIAL: The College Basketball Experience (NABC Hall of Fame) building design
Is this building open every day? If so How do they keep the visitors in this building from filtering into the SC or is there a common entrance into both? They can be sectioned off so that only one is open at a time. The CBE is very cool. I've been to the Basketball HOF in Springfield, MA and this ...

Tell me about Waldo
I love the Waldo area -- and it seems to be on the upswing. But if you can swing it, I'd live North of 75th Street. Most of the houses North of 75th were built pre WWII -- where the ones build south of it were mostly post WWII -- which means there is a pretty significant change in housing quality o...

Re: Sprint Center opening day pictures
One note on the CBE. I've been to the Basketball HOF in Springfield, Mass - -and from an entertainment value standpoint, the CBE blows it away. It's not close. I also think putting the full-sized Basketball court in there was genius...one of the workers said they plan on hosting some tournament-ty...

Re: T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center)
I went down after work tonight. I was somewhat skeptical. I've been to several of the newer arenas (Denver, Dallas) and was skeptical that we could pull off the state of the art facility for what we paid for this. But wow. Kansas City has a lot to be proud of with this. The looks on people's fa...

Re: Pizza Bella - 1810 Baltimore
pizzas are not precooked -- they come out of the wood-fired oven fresh. Our group of 4 was in and out in 45 minutes or so -- which was pretty good (I thought) given that it was completely packed (and people waiting for tables) and it was their first real day in operation.

Re: Pizza Bella - 1810 Baltimore
Had lunch there today. The Pizza is most excellent. Basically they sell smaller (10" i'm guessing) individual pizzas. One is the right sized meal for me -- or, you could split one with someone and each get your own salad/appetizer (I saw a lot of people doing that). Most of the pies are $10...

Re: Pizza Bella - 1810 Baltimore
does anyone know what sort of price point they are going for? are they doing lunch? by-the slice? etc. i'm curious to know whether they are going for a slightly-upscale but still mostly traditional pizza parlor sort of place, or whether they are going way upmarket and esoteric. i think a hybri...

Re: TODAY! 8th St. Tunnel Tour!
So, it looks like it's completely set up for tourists. Who has done the work building platforms/walkways/stairs? Who "hosted" the tour? Where exactly was the entry point that you used to start the tour?
I used to work right there at that park...I've always wanted to do that tour...

Re: Pizza Bella - 1810 Baltimore
the sign is backlit (so chic) and the interior is so very close to completion. the pizza ovens look orange? they just might pull off a weekend opening. My waitress at 1924 yesterday said that Monday was the open date...the goal was to get it open by Friday for the weekend but that that didn't uqite...

Re: TODAY! 8th St. Tunnel Tour!
Where does is exit the loop? It must be visable from street level if it was a streetcar track. It was an underground tunnel that began underground at 8th and Broadway -- the little park with the fountain there at 8th and Broadway was the starting point for it heading down into the bottoms...and b...

Re: City Highlands at 8th and Troost
We've been keeping an eye on these -- and I toured the first two that got finished (I think they're really well done inside, they have a great loft-style feel). It's a little weird though that they had originally decided to redo these 3 houses and then build 3 more new houses in the exact same styl...

Re: ONGOING: Incoming conventions
I cannot believe this. Looks like the Funkhouser administration is going to cave in on itself. He's letting a little thing like the park's board undermine (I'm waiting for the future implosion) his entire administration. Between the Semler thing, and the Dog Park thing, the friggin' Parks Board ha...
