I've been meaning to post this photo of the fire. It looked a lot closer than where it was. I thought the Boulevard Brewery was on fire...

Re: The End of Oil

ALL of my speeding tickets were from that era.  Trying to drive 55 on the flat, straight, dull, tumbleweed-strewn west Texas highways was maddening.  It made all my trips to get out of that god forsaken place seem interminable.  I do not have a problem with 60 mph on urban interstates and enforcing...

Re: The End of Oil

Please please please do not bring back 55 mph... Most of my speeding tickets were from that era.

I like the idea of the four day work week. But I'd like to see more details about how that would / could work, what sort of effects that would have on the economy, etc.

Re: mac help

If your G3 has firewire, you can attach a firewire cable between the two computers and you can use what they call "target disk mode" to transfer the files. You need to have at least version 2.3.3 of firewire on the older G3. Attach a firewire cable to your older G3 and leave it on. Shut do...

Do you say Kansas City, which actually takes a little extra time,  or Kanza City, which is quicker and easier?

eh?

Hope it starts construction soon.
Now we just need 100 more like it from the river to the Plaza.

That is for the owners (only) to consider and be responsible for.
True. But sometimes it's for the neighbors to deal with.

Re: Big XII Basketball

So this happened in the 2002 - 2003 school year when Arthur was a high school freshman? My question is why it took this teacher 5 years to bring this up?

And if he flunked math, he better get a real trustworthy accountant and financial advisor real soon.

  No nothing ever will. Not when it comes to buildings and neighborhoods. Someone will always be pissed about something. That's what makes it interesting though.

Re: Boutique Condos In Freighthouse - Arterra 21

I'd be much more concerned about putting a residential building on a former EPA chemical site. Not sure if you were kidding around, but I can't imagine this project would have made it this far without a VERY clean report from the highest possible level environmental study. If they have secured fina...

Just read this article in the Star. Sound like some possible new construction in the Freighthouse.  The vacant lot at 2100 Wyandotte. Copaken White & Blitt and Harris Construction. They are setting up a sales office and need to secure 30% to get going. Could be completed in fall of 2009? Cool! /...

I'm pretty sure AKP was referring to the Allen's Drive In that was at 89th and State Line which is now a Commerce Bank. There's a picture on here somewhere.

As far as the drinks, I wasn't thinking beer or wine really.  Maybe something that is actually hydrating like water or lemonade.  I bet you could make a killing selling those kinds of drinks out back...don't know if you need some kind of license for that too?  My mind always goes there first ...

The Freighthouse hotel project by chance? I was guessing the NE corner of 20th and Main. Hereford House and Hotel Midwest or whatever it is. Freighthouse project was supposed to be an extended stay, no restaurant (don't want to compete with themselves) and at one point the project was going to requ...

Your space is awesome.  I visited it about a year ago.  *Just a suggestion* You guys should set up more of a patio vibe outside your space with little tables and chairs (on that driveway leading to your space).  You could sell people drinks and food or just give them a place to sit for a bi...

Go on.  Don't leave us hanging on that short story, give us some dirt. I was doing quite a bit of pro bono work for UCP (United Cerebral Palsey) in the 80's and Lowery made UCP one of his charitable causes. All good. Every year, I would shoot still photos of Nick (or other sports personalities) wit...
