Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)
I wanted to be wrong so bad. Lucas Funkhowser will grind this city to a halt if he is unaware of the need/importance of Strada. These comments alone are a horrible look for our city. Imagine what any developer/investor must think when seeing these quotes in the paper. No one will be willing to invest...

Re: Next Mayor 2019
I fear a near Funkhowser freeze coming to DTKC development. DT is, and always should be, the economic engine for this area. We cannot lose the momentum already created under the leadership of Sly. Someday we may not need TIF, as for now I feel we still do. I am a 56 year old northlander who is enjoy...

Re: Union Station
I walked through last week. It looks nice. I just wish they found a way to open up the DT skyline to the north part of US. The view would be great and you could have a window for watching trains. Kids would love it. Absolutely true!!! My Dad worked below on the station platforms for 30 years. 3;00 ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
^Inappropriately smug for a tragedy. Maybe an explanation will suffice. I am simply praying for the one lost as well as their family. The verse from Psalms brings me strength during hard times. Hardly inappropriate or smug. What would be inappropriate would be to argue a horrible, tragic death. I w...

Re: On-going downtown development projects
I want tall buildings. All the infill is nice, but the skyline last changed when they built the skylons Uh, you don’t count the Lights or Kauffman Center or Loews as part of the skyline? I consider a real skyline changer a 30 plus business tower. I say business tower because of the difference betwe...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)
There is far more to be said about building a signature 50+ floor tower downtown then just saying "but it will only fill one block." Signature towers put a downtown on the forefront to the local business community with a strong statement. They spur much more peripheral development than sm...

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park
Don't know if you have seen this? I have mixed emotions. https://www.worldwar1centennial.org/honor/national-wwi-memorial.html I don't. There is more in D.C. than can be visited in 2 months. The Smithsonian has 98% of their inventory in storage. Think the very end of the first Indiana Jones movie. T...

One massive building. Hard to get the feel of how massive it is till you stand near it. This will definately change our skyline in an eye catching way. So glad we finally got this off the drawing board!!!

Is there a date for the city council to act, or any other movement on this project yet? Love to have 10--15 more of these in the Crossroads/Eastside neighborhoods, half of which were office/office-retail like Corrigan Station.

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee
I try to allow for all kinds of tastes, but the call to tear this building down because of its appearance, is outrageous. No degree of difference from prior generations who destroyed 95% of our architectural treasure....because they were 'out of fashion' or 'too expensive to renovate'. The library/...
