Re: Modest Mouse at City Market Fri 8/3

In other concert news, the Old 97s are at the Crossroads/Grinder's on July 11th.  Timely, as my wife complained just yesterday that she really needed her 97s fix.  We've been in Dallas and Chicago for 10 years, where they played quite regularly.  Don't think they come through KC so much.  They're a ...

Re: beer.

If you're in the CWE, I had a really (surprisingly) enjoyable lunch at moxy, a self-described "contemporary bistro".  There are a lot of places to drink, of course. Don't know if you're reading up on StL eats, but I posted at length on that portion of our trip at LTHForum: http://www.lthfo...

Where in OP? 6995 W. 151st St. Overland Park, KS 66223 A couple additional notes of interest on the website : No longer Welsh: In 1997 the present ownership acquired the Pub. The theme was expanded to include both Irish and Scottish selections and Llywelyn’s became a “Celtic” Pub. The menus were ex...

Re: Free Chipotle's today

Yikes. I thought if I went close to 2 the  line would have died down. The line at the one on Johnson Drive and Metcalf was out the door and out to Hardee's. Saving $8 wasn't that big a deal. Glad to hear it.  Stopped by about 12:30 and left.  Someone with a burrito said the wait was about 1/2 hour,...

Wow, really?  Half million dollars?

Um, does it by chance look more impressive in person?

Here's a great thread on NY pizza: http://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=4700 Mine is the last post, noting an extremely enjoyable meal at Totonno's on the Upper East Side. In Chinatown, I really dug the [url=http://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?p=116776#116776]soup dumplings at Joe's Shang...

It was up and running last First Friday on the inside too.  The line was long and, just like before, all the chocolates were $1.

Nice.

Re: Naughtieness in the dirrrrrty burbs!

Does anybody have the details of where these parlors were in Johnson County.  With all the strip malls of old deteriorating I'm sure you could run a decent operation out there.  I guess they had it coming for a while.  All the addresses were in the paper. Only 1 in Mission!! Most in Overland Park.

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway

Yeah, I was wondering about that Lamar's.  Is that someplace people around here like? My father-in-law made some comment to the woman at Fluffy Fresh about the development, rezoning, etc., and I guess he got quite an earful.  Sounds like, for whatever reason, they're not too happy about it.  Hope La...

Re: Eat at Pangea

I'm not sure how I'd be hunger-wise if I tried to order one thing for myself.  In that sense, it didn't at all seem like someplace I'd like to go for lunch. We went for dinner with 5 adults and 2 kids.  I think we spend maybe $90-100 for the group, got tons of stuff, lots of bites and samples.  I re...

Re: Above Omaha

There was a great book that came out a few years ago detailing Omaha architecture:

Building for the Ages, Omaha's Architectural Landmarks

I bought it for my sister...it's a little tough to track down.  Really nicely done, though.

Has some cool stuff, including pictures of lost buildings.

Re: Eat at Pangea

Wanted to add another voice in support of Pangea.  Haven't been since last fall...the Guinness shepherd's pie was terrific.  Really enjoyed the place, and though it may be in a strip mall, it's actually got a sort of urbane feel...I really dug this place. I took more detailed notes someplace, but ne...

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway

I still find that hard to believe, especially at those prices. I think they're blowing smoke. I agree, those prices are crazy, though I'm guessing the $550K is for a top-floor penthouse or something bigger than a 1500 sq ft 2-bedroom. As a point of comparison, I saw and add yesterday for 1 and 2 BR...

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway

Wow, this is really depressing.  We bought a home in Mission about six months ago, moving from Chicago.  In part, the location we chose was a gamble on the success of this project, and the prospect of a little more density/walkability/vibrancy/etc.  I didn't think it was a great bet, but at least ev...

I thought I read somewhere that they were talking about W's aLoft concept, which is also going in somewhere in Johnson County...Town Center, Corbin Park, ???

Could be remembering wrong.

I don't think there are any aLoft's built, though I hear there's a model in Second Life.

Re: High-Speed Trains (350+ mph) in America?

If I could get to Chicago in 4 or 5 hours, we'd be up there once or twice a month for shows and the like. \ You can by plane.  Even with MCI half hour away, I get from door to door in NE JoCo to downtown Chicago in about 3 1/2 hours.  Actual time on the plane is about 1 1/2 hours. And tickets on So...
