Re: BYOB restaurants?

Apparently this BYOB was technically illegal but not really ever enforced  Today the City Council just voted to make it explicitly legal:

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Do y'all seriously expect a company based in suburban Oklahoma to suddenly start opening urban-formatted storefronts without gas pumps?  Really?

How about directing efforts somewhere like 7-11, which has a big precedent for this?

Re: KC Commuter Rail

Why people take 435 clear around everything to go to KCI is beyond me.   Everybody I know takes 435 even though it's much quicker to take other routes and you have development along the way on those routes for food, banks, gas etc if needed. Because the people taking I-435 are scared of the parts...

And why would they ask the freaking star for demo stats?  That doesn't sound right.  They need to hire a demographer or market researcher if they are asking newspapers for information like that.  The Star has demographic data for the purposes of selling ads.  This was probably just one piece of dat...

Re: Missouri Vehicle Inspections

Have you called DOR to report the discrepancy between their web site and your experience at one of the license stations?  Those offices are run by contractors, not the DOR, so there is a lot of room for error.  Or have tried simply going to a different office?

One of the other issues that 39 Rainbow has been dealing with is the current occupants of buildings that will be torn down.  I know the folks that run Jaywalkers have been pretty pissed off that they are going to be put out of business. It's a shame that an existing, thriving business is being dest...

East Independence or Bannister really are the best sites.   Both hit the right demographic, both are high-traffic areas unlike K-7, and Bannister has the boost of reasonably close proximity to KU, CMSU (or whatever they're calling that school these days), UMKC, and Rockhurst.    And puts it a half ...

Re: Missouri Earnings Tax Initiative, Proposition A

In reality, I suspect the end of the e-tax will spark another exodus of residents and business from KC as money necassary to run the city and provide service runs out.  Missouri sure knows how to shoot itself in the foot with ridiculous legislation like the Hancock ammendments and the recent e-tax ...

Property tax would require voter approval.  Trash is a fee for service, not a tax, so it would not require a vote.

Please do.  We have so little congestion that dedicated bus lanes for MAX would only save 2-3 minutes vs running in traffic.

Re: Shovel your whole sidewalk; not just your doorstep.

The lax snow clearing culture in the southern midwest extends beyond being an anti-urban trait. It's just that the snow often melts within a few days w/ the exception of several weeks in janufeb. i mean think about it...most of the winter is close to snow free. That changes pretty quickly along MO-...

But I'm seriously, 100%, without a doubt, committed to growing downtown and I believe public transit is the biggest priority to make that happen right now. I applaud this attitude, and hope you can encourage other business people Downtown to join you in this conviction.  Elected leaders don't hear...

It also makes a lot of since to string together multiple city pairs along a corridor, thus KC-STL-CHI.
