Re: KC grand urban park, where are you?

the midtown marketplace area would have made a grand urban park along main. with those rowhouses on the north, instead of facing a f'n strip mall, would have helped create a first class urban space in that area. upping the density on the periphery of the park would have created a nice, mini central...

Re: Urban Core Neighborhoods

Damn, MARC needs a reality check. All traces of "urbanity" have disappeared from the city long before you hit Noland Road. Especially since they've left out everything south of 63rd within KCMO. And I'd say downtown Independence counts but any urbanity there fades out immediately east of ...

Re: North Kansas City

Osco (now CVS) on Armour to be torn down and replaced with box that will have parking lot on Armour side, thus ruining the streetscape building line. Tearing down the entire brick building, even the 2-story section that fronts the sidewalks and corner? I wonder why they would do that. The CVS in Br...

Re: Retail in Inner KCK

DMW will probably be the only one to reply, but can anyone describe what is the true status of retail development in KCK? My perception is that KCK is in many ways similar to KCMO's East Side and South Side when it comes to retail-- most moved out and little is being built. There is the inner city ...

Re: Proposal to remove schools from the Kansas City Missouri School District

Be careful what you wish for Independence... This could improve western Independence, obviously, if all goes as planned. And it would strengthen central Independence. But what happens if Truman area residents want to join the Blue Springs school district? Is that what you're insinuating, GRID? If s...

There used to be a Bigger Jigger on the southeast corner of 39th and State Line too. I can't recall what's there now though.

Re: Where do we live

I think most people associate Turner with the WT-ish area off 47th and Shawnee Dr. Really small houses out of the 50s? Many without basements or even proper foundations, tiny patio houses. West of that crap is an area of rough terrain and scatterings of upscale homes. I live in Wyandotte County alon...

Re: Plaza Carjacking, Persistent Carjackers.

So it's alright to be discriminate toward people from rural areas and small towns or people who listen to country? And the working-class and blue-collar types? (not that that happened now, but it does often) I don't see why people think this is alright. I don't see you showing the same attitude towa...

Re: Urban vs. Exurban Density

The top picture is centered on the intersection of 19th and Orville Av in KCK. Fritz Railroad restaurant is roughly in the center. To the east is St. Peters, the neighborhood Reardon, KCK's new mayor, lives in. It is a relatively urban area. There are alleys and rear/detached garages, and out of vie...
