Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! TH

If I remember MoMan's argument correctly, it was because of the national prestige of the state of Missouri* and its reputation for geographical majesty*, as well as MU's internationally renowned academic excellence.* *(As compared to Kansas) You again? <yawn> Please provide a link to any such claim...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! TH

You know what? You're right. I concede. SEC chose MU because of their elite athletic pedigree. My head's been in the sand so long, I guess I never realized just how dominant MU has been in this Conference. Gotta hand it to you on the SEC invite. You guys earned it. Bravo. =D> Wrong again. Keeping y...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! TH

Citing the numbers of conference championships won and BCS bowl appearances for teams A and B, when those teams play in two very different conferences with schedules that vary tremendously in strength, is no way to provide indisputable proof of superiority. Wake Forest has won a conference champions...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! TH

WVU's revenue sports (football and basketball) are inarguably better than MU's. Football has won 5 Conference Championships and gone to 2 BCS bowl games in the past 8 seasons. MU has done neither. The Basketball program has played in Final 4s and National Championship games. MU has not. You like th...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! TH

And yet Houston is ranked in the top ten of...THE BCS POLL. According to your "indisputable" logic, that doesn't guarantee viewers in a huge TV market like Houston.

You're not the only one confused by rebuttals in here.

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! TH

That's a lot of words without saying a whole lot. MU to SEC was not driven by athletic success. I mean, come on. Is that really even disputable? The proof is in the numbers. 0 Conference Championships. 0 BCS bowl games. Conference Realignment is driven by $$$ from TELEVISION CONTRACTS. this isn't d...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! TH

I thought the size of a school's fanbase could be accurately judged by who shows up to one neutral site football game (where one team is ranked and the other is in the midst of a 1-16 conference run). At least that's what I read here. I think what you read was a response to an earlier post, which s...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! TH

The size of a school's fan base, as reflected by its TV market, is important, yes. But that's just one part of the equation, otherwise Villanova (Philadelphia), Houston, SMU (Dallas), and Florida Atlantic would all be really hot commodities. (Cue the idiotic "Houston will be going to a better b...

Yes, NCAA basketball tourney success is very important. That's why Louisville, Memphis and Villanova were all hotly pursued when the SEC, B1G, and ACC expanded.

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! TH

I'm sure the the SEC, B1G, and ACC are just kicking themselves over possibly losing such a plum expansion candidate to the Big 12. Nothing says "healthy conference" like adding the picked-over remnants of another dying conference.

Keep aiming high, Big 12!

Re: Interesting new ad campaign from KU

Not sure if you guys are really that slow, or if it's some kind of denial mechanism. (1) Nebraska replaced Kansas long ago as Mizzou's biggest football rival. Not the most hated rival, but definitely the most interesting. (2) 50K for a game at the beginning of a highly anticipated season in which yo...

Not comparing the games....you stated a promoter wouldn't look at Ksu for games citing the isu game. I gave you games against noncon opponents in bball and fball which showed Ksu fans filling arenas and stadiums. Mustering only 50K at Arrowhead on a beautiful August day at the height of Kansas Stat...

Football? KSU drew a full house vs. Iowa (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/scores100/100239/100239518.htm) and bigger crowd vs. Cal (http://kstatesports.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/082403aac.html) in non-con at Arrowhead..not to mention Big 12 championships....in basketball....KSU filled the CB...

Re: Interesting new ad campaign from KU

Only MoMan believes his delusional bullshit. He's the only Mizzou fan on here who doesn't want to admit that KC is a KU town... I think that because of its basketball success, and because its campus is less than an hour from KC, KU has more diehard fans in the KC area than Mizzou. But I also believ...

Re: Interesting new ad campaign from KU

"healthy" = 50% facilities full? Crazy tigers. We shall see if they actually continue to play....what promoter wants to build anything around MU when they count on the stadium filling? CBE Classic prime example. MU will be 3rd in this market in 5 years....they may already be. "econom...
