Re: We need a new airport!!!
Last paragraph is right on the button I think that what hurts the airport issue most among this demographic is that when they do fly, they fly to large, inconvenient airports. Many people haven't been to great airports our size like Austin, Dallas Love Field, Denver, etc, so they don't even know wh...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
I looked through the B&M proposal but had a hard time finding any actual renderings. Can somebody point me to where in the 300+ pages they are?
Of the 3 proposals I like AECOM's "iconic" terminal best I think.

Re: Downtown Airport (MKC)
I believe almost anytime you see a 737/757 sized plane sitting out on the tarmac it's a baseball team in town to play the Royals. It is very frequently a Delta plane but I've seen others as well, and you'll notice they're almost exclusively out there when the Royals are at home. The 757 that's out t...

I'm pretty sure they did plan it. Look for the circle drives to need repaved right as winter starts, just a few weeks before a vote.flyingember wrote: The city couldn't have planned that better.

Re: Ambassador Hotel (1111 Grand)
If I still lived in the Professional Building I'd be kind of bummed about that since I used to park in that lot. Alas, such is the price of progress and I'm super happy to see the Ambassador doing well. My wife and I stayed there once and it's a bit of a hidden gem in the downtown area. Looking a bi...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
Go walk on the people movers for miles at a time at Detroits new airport, then come back and talk about convenience. I'm pretty sure it takes 45 minutes to walk 1/3rd the length of that massive over-ly sized, food and retail laden airport. It was clearly built to be a mall first, and airport second...

I might have to give that a try. It's been a long time since I asked but the last time I did they told me they don't swap equipment.smh wrote: I have heard that if you just take your EQ in they'll exchange you for the new stuff no questions asked.

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?
Got this email today, ouch: We want to let you know that the price of your Fiber 1000 + TV plan will be increasing from $130/month to $150/month starting with your July bill. (If you also subscribe to optional packages, the prices of those add-ons will remain the same.) I wonder if that means I can...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
It has come in handy for us a few times when we've gone downtown for something and can't find parking. Then we just head to the River Market or Union Station and park there and use the street car to get where we need to go. River Market+Streetcar >>> Parking at Barney Allis or Kauffman, in my opini...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
I get why the other engineering firms (BNIM quoted in that article) might not like it, but if that is what it freaking takes then I'm all for B&M taking this project on. It may be necessary after the ballot item in November (insanely and stupidly) fails.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
Anecdote #2 from me for the year. My wife and I just got back from Cancun and to book our flights we flew out on one airline (Delta) and back on another (American). We parked our car in economy parking for 5 days while we were gone since our flight times were super early leaving and mildly late comi...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?
The 2026 world cup will have 48 teams and 60 games to host. 40 games in the US works out to at least 12, but possibly 14, sites. Arrowhead was one of 18 venues submitted with the 2022 bid so it's certainly a possibility that KC could make the cut - especially if they were considered a pair host with...

Controlling floods seemed like a good thing. I didn't want to have the city issue $600 million in bonds for sidewalks.DaveKCMO wrote: why the hell would you vote no on sidewalks but yes on flood control?

Re: New Broadway Bridge
there's 8 other bridges. Some people just have to detour onto one of them. Care to name the 8? There's two bridges, six lanes of traffic each way, that serve as a reasonable detour for the tens of thousands who take that bridge every single day. It was a sizeable annoyance when they closed the viad...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
Anecdote time! I flew to Chicago this weekend. This afternoon we returned via O'Hare and were through security in 5 minutes. Would have been less than 15 minutes from a curbside drop off via cab/friend to my gate. It was only 20 minutes from the blue line stop to our gate. Traffic, not terminal cons...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Stadium could fit if you take out some industrial buildings on the south side of 19th. That would be the size of current Kauffman land currently (zero parking) Would it face slightly northwest to get a good outfield view? If there was ever commuter rail into Union Station that would be a great plac...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!
Last thing I'll chime in about the insane continued hand wringing about the basketball tournament: Before Missouri left the Big 12 the tournament was held in KC for 11 of 16 years The Big 12 is currently committed to have the tournament in KC for at least 8 consecutive years of the post-Missouri Big...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!
Lets see how many future B12 tourney's KC gets. That is a huge event that is definitely at risk....even if it comes back at, it will be a diminished rate of occurrence. You mean the tournament that has been in Kansas City every year since 2010? The one that has been extended twice since Mizzou join...

I saw on social media a very accurate summation of this election:
Donald Trump is the only person who could have lost to Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton is the only person who could have lost to Donald Trump
