Re: Urban Living Tour

I liked the Freight House Lofts as well.  I thought the roof deck, though small, was very nice and had a lovely southern view.  The addition of covered parking spaces will be nice.  I've mostly been looking downtown, but the FHL had me seriously thinking about Crossroads. Campbell was OK.  The Rese...

Re: First Fridays

Way to go grovester!  If you don't mind me asking, where do you live otherwise? Merriam, in the Hocker Grove area.  I need to post some pix of the neighborhood, you'd love it.  You know Merriam used to be the vaction destination for the KC glitterati back in the day.  My folks live in the old Blue ...

Re: Urban Living Tour

We were there early, seemed to wake up the sales agents every time we came in.  The freight house lofts were awsome.  Wood floors, view of both Union Station and the memorial.  Only drawback was the rooftop was small.  Campbell lofts were not so impressive, weak finishes.  We went in the 21 Ten buil...

Re: First Fridays

we went last month, actually stayed at the Hotel Phillips and made a weekend out of it.  I was surprised how busy it was considering the month.  It's nice to be able to walk from Union Station to the hotel with plenty to do see and eat.  The east/west spread keeps things interesting, you could almos...

Re: Earnings Tax

I live in MO but pay KS income taxes.  Noooooo! I guess you could sum this whole thing up as "sometimes, life just isn't fair." There is always inequality in life. Some men are killed in a war and some men are wounded and some men never leave the country. Life is unfair. John F. Kennedy

Re: your top 10 places in kc to drink and/or dine.

Mario's has great atmosphere.  Especially enjoy dining upstairs in the window.  I remember as a kid going to Mario's on the Plaza, it was on the corner where a sketchy jewelry store is now.  Across from Mi Cocina I believe...  I downed quite a few meatball grinders at the tender young age of 7. Mar...

Re: your top 10 places in kc to drink and/or dine.

10 food places usually including a drink: - Ponaks - Arun - Pizza Bella - Plaza III - Gordon Beirsch (this place has quickly grown on me, sorry KC Originals) - Garozzos - JP (usually don't eat here, but have to include it) - Tomfooleries - Nara 5 Food places where I never once have had a drink - To...

Re: Tree Removal Recommendations in KC

With trees crapping up my back yard, I'm considering having three of them removed.  Obviously, expense is my primary concern, but I do want someone that will do a good job, and isn't likely to smash my house, or my neighbors' houses.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  Also, if you've had a tre...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

I kinda feel you for the most part. I'm wondering if they mark the hands of everyone who goes in...even dudes who are in their 50's....or if it's just something they do to younger looking folks. For those of us of a certain age (not 50's mind you) they still stamp your hand, they just dont bother t...

I don't know what its function was supposed to be, other than decorative. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3012/2411561961_ac040d1...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

River Market needs a viable riverfront.  The overlook is cool but under-used or under-advertised.  A general clean up and landscaping would do wonders.

merriam drive

please go to Georgetown Pharmacy; they've got  a great soda fountain; egg creams, malts, splits, along with java concoctions and free wifi.  Maybe coordinate with Marty's Blues Cafe or the farmers market, depending.

Haven't noticed too many "bags" at Power and Light...They started to overtake McFaddens and hopefully they will stay put. There are 2 main categories of DB's: 1) Double Popped Collar pretty boy douche 2) Likes to fight - meathead douche Both equally terrible. I really, really want to see ...

I think weekday rates during an event might be a premium, or we're just too lazy to comparison shop!
