Re: Westside happenings
The park already exists and is in a better location (not directly adjacent to the Interstate). It's called Observation Park and is one of the best kept secrets in the city (was one of the best kept secrets).

Good to know. I could never go back from 1 gig, though.

How reliable is the 400+ Mbps? Prior to GF, I never had the speeds that were advertised.

Dang, remember when Port Fonda was always outside the Rieger? Here's to hoping the next PF materializes in the DT area soon. It's one thing to follow a trend and another to just be good at what you do, but most things that have opened lately seem to be following a trend without the focus required to...

Cosentino's is wonderful for what it is, but they are in need of some more serious competition to keep things current. It is a nice store, but I feel like they have changed very little in 10 years. They aren't enough of any one thing to make them a destination, and I think that's partially why many ...

I'm appealing, but still asking for a 100% increase. I have no idea how they will process all of this crap.

Also worth noting, 1720 Jefferson was valued at $517k, and 1728 Jefferson was valued at $508k (which I feel are definitely under but another example of how wacky the valuations were). Can you imagine the house that would need to be built to be worth triple that in the eyes of the assessment team?

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019
I've not seen one house in that neighborhood sell for much under 1M Don't know if you were joking, but a majority of houses sold in the area have gone for under $500k. Perhaps people fixate on the ones for sale at high price, but those generally stay on the market for a long time and require many l...

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019
IMO, there is no single house in the Westside that could sell for $1.5 million, yet at least one brand new property on a small lot in the Westside North was valued in the assessment at $1.5+ million. The properties with homes on either side of it are both under $175k (and both of those assessments w...

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019
Totally agree about the cap, but it sounds like gentrification isn't the primary driver of this. After reading this I'd image that there are properties in areas that have seen little investment but received large increases nonetheless. "The system isn’t changing, but the focus of the every-oth...

Just got in from being out of the country for 3 weeks to find out about my 136% increase in property taxes. I'll echo what others have said in that my property assessment was way low for many years, but there are some crazy single year increases in my neighborhood. I used to think that the really ba...

KC won't have the turnout Nashville did and like KCP stated, KC just isn't a party town like Vegas, NO or Nashville. I wouldn't want that vibe downtown all the time anyway. Can you image if our Broadway street was lined with bars for 8-10 blocks...that would be a nightmare and I'm guessing a lot of...

I have a consulting firm that will name your hipster business for you for $5,000. I have a set of about 500 rotating, currently precious words, and I use a sophisticated random number generator to combine two of them, ala Opal + Heart, Sage & Satchel, or Court and King.

AL's biggest concern right now, IMO, is still managing through the growth and scaling in a smart way without overburdening the staff. Is it just me, or is everyone getting diagnosed with Hashimoto's lately?
