Re: Troost Village

I did notice a few workers on site today. This is the first signs of life I have seen in quite a while. I don't have any confidence in any of the new construction portions of the proposal, but perhaps the Phase I building renovations will resume (maybe followed by 911 Linwood).

Re: Northland finally starting to take growth from JoCo

The article seems a little short on data to back up its thesis. It seems like it mostly touts housing inventory and prices. I would be curious to see if there is any data that supports a significant migration (or even any net positive) from Johnson County to Clay/Platte. I believe the Northland has ...

Re: The Madison - NW Plaza luxury apts

I believe they did get approval from the Council on 2/24 for the change in height. I don't see any recent permit activity. The project page on Compass shows the plan was updated on 7/25/22, although I am not seeing any uploads/activity since February, so I'm not sure what the more recent updates mig...

Re: AT&T Building Renovation, 8th Street and Locust

There are some renderings (I'm guessing just conceptual) along with the listing for that surface lot: https://i.imgur.com/S04iqzX.jpg https://i.imgur.com/lsP5NCf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PVeTmtt.jpg Also of note is that the marketing mentions the potential Royals stadium. Re: New Coaster coming to WOF

I'm curious if there is any data available on annual attendance at WOF over the years. Just from my observation, the park generally seems quite a bit less crowded than I remember during my youth in the 80s/90s. But maybe my perspective is skewed (and my parents happened to take me on the busiest day...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I have yet to see an accurate depiction of what the view from behind home plate (and for most of the stadium seating) would look like and I'm tired of the misleading skyline views, so here's an ACTUAL image of what the view from behind home plate, facing NE, would ACTUALLY look like. Stadiums have ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The views from behind home plate would be a massive win for this location. A true showcase of the downtown skyline and yes, the ATT LL building sucks but this would make that building have ballpark views. Making it more realistic for the developer to transform the exterior look of the building. htt...

Bliss Books and Wines is moving into 3502 Gillham - former Native Digital office (they moved to the Crossroads), next to Mother Earth in Mac's International building. Seems like it could be a nice addition. https://www.thepitchkc.com/co-owner-of-bliss-books-wine-spills-on-the-challenges-and-joys-of-...

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

I thought it was oner by SquareOneStudio. They are based in the building adjacent to the north and purchased it a couple years ago. I believe the plan was for them to expand into part of that building, and the rest would be offices. I don't know anything about the owner of that company, is he also a...

Re: Historic Preservation in the Urban Core

There is an application for demolition of the historic building at at 3121 Prospect (currently Arvest Bank, wants to build a new branch). I know neighborhood groups have been clear about wanting to keep that building (as one of the only remaining historic buildings in that area), so hopefully this g...

Re: Main St. Buick GMC Site - 3200 Main St.

It looks like the Buick GMC site looks like it is still on the market. McGilley Funeral Chapel is exploring a move across the street into the Drexel Hall building. That site, if paired with the car lot, would potentially make a very large site for development. The Subway across the street still appe...

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

There was a proposal for 620 Linwood a little over 2 years ago. I believe it was to be renovated into offices.

Since things had gone quiet on that front (maybe COVID related) I figured that project might be dead. I wonder if this is the same plan, or something new?

It's gotta be starting soon. What are the revised plans? I didn't pour over all the details, but overall, it looks similar to the renderings posted earlier. Probably just minor tweaks. He got approval on that Martini Corner building and construction never started. I did notice a couple Zoning Compl...

Re: Uptown Shoppes

I completely agree, dukuboy. I could definitely nitpick the design of this development, or think of a much more ideal development for this site in a dream situation. But the bottom line is that this project adds about 300 apartment units and retail space, while maintaining the original retail and re...
