Re: Amenities missing from downtown
Walked by the old Zaina spot today that is supposed to become a Pickleman's (12th/Walnut). That has been taking forever. Am hoping they give up. Downtown Loop could use more ethnic eats like counter Indian.

^Would hope that means moved somewhere else than removed from the system. Some places that would seem to make sense... Armour/Gilham or @Broadway or @Troost Hospital Hill (they should sponsor a new station though) Plaza Library-50s/Main stretch (this is turning into a decent 'restaurant row') Is the...

Yeah, could see CAPEX vs OPEX as the driving factors. So it would seem you are indicating any changes would be considered for next year's or following year's budget. Will ideas in this thread reach KCATA?

Looks like KC BCycle is exploring new technologies such as smart bikes at a bike rack anywhere rather than smart docking stations... https://kc.bcycle.com/buzz/2017/12/07/responsible-bike-share If they go there, hopefully it will have some level of control compared to other dockless, such as require...

I do not know their methodology or how they construct the map, but as you can see- downtown's bike usage is primarily concentrated on Grand. Was talking to a 22yo cyclist/promoter at a Hyde Park dinner last night; has volunteered at 816 Collective, worked a couple bike shops and also once did a gig...

Yeah as some unfortunately oppose more density. This project hasn't made the media yet so still possible for NIMBYs to react.

Not a good sign if even you don't know. Thought I saw some scrap removal work or something like that walking by a few months ago but nothing since.

Re: Hotel Phillips to get multimillion dollar freshing up
Prime spot that maybe deserves better. Before the 80s, top chefs were dependent on the hotels funding top restaurants. Since the 80s chefs have been able to get loans or investors of their own, breaking away from the hotel control. But this is one location that would be great for a top local chef, a...

We just got back from Elly's. Above average basic+ diner eats, nicely unfancy (lacquered raw cracked floors, no cliche theme, basic tables, some booths, minimal leaning but modern decor). They have a separate espresso bar with a small counter but was hoping for that classic low slung long diner coun...

KC rumored to be one of first few markets to get Charter/TWC Gigabit, though it's only 35Mb upload, possibly starting Dec 19. A test market is $105/month but they may have to charge less in KC with all of the cheap Gigabit presence. Will be more interesting to see how they price lower tiers. https:/...
