Re: New Chiefs Stadium
Not sure I expected much more. Maybe more "outside" view looking different is the only thing I may have expected. This is obviously the last reno of Arrowhead to get them through 25 years and then done with this building. Yes, this is exactly what it feels like. I would have preferred the...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
Agree that this is underwhelming. On the plus side, these all look like really nice improvements that will enhance the fan experience (I do love the renovation and re-use of the tunnel for VIP entrance/spaces), and Arrowhead will remain Arrowhead (no roof or overwrought modern design elements) for t...

Re: One North Development
Did The Fresh Market end up backing out of this development? Would love to see them come back to the area but I read somewhere that they were no longer part of the development. Yes, it's my understanding they have yet to land a grocery tenant as promised, due to lack of nearby households. Unsure wh...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
Also, being the absolute stupid person I am, I only learned recently that County Road Ice House is just Joe’s BBQ with a different name. I honestly thought it was its own thing and served catered Joe’s BBQ from the location at 47th and Mission. Never been there before either, so maybe I should try ...

Indy has three 5-star hotels?
Would have been nice to get Hotel Bravo up before WC.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I also do not see how this stadium goes up with zero parking directly connected to it. It has got to have something. I know there is plenty of parking for most people, but there needs to be one close garage for people that will pay whatever it takes to park close, and also for handicapped etc. If y...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
That’s not what they’re doing. They’re asking for tax payers to extend a sales tax to help fund the stadium and the stadium only. They can’t sit here and over promise that the cap will happen if you vote yes because there are many other involved parties. Bottom line is if this vote doesn’t pass and...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Would love to hear more about some of the design choices: Why wasn't the field oriented north, given this is the perfect location to do so, and the northeast view looks directly onto a looming relative eyesore of a building? Issues with sunlight/angles per MLB? To better incorporate the "villag...

What a great week in KC. Watching the Super Bowl parade roll past the future Royals stadium site, getting pumped.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Some thoughts after digesting this for a bit: TL:DR - Pro - love the location, super urban, no parking (!?) Con - zero concrete info, renderings laughably remain a "Vision", feels like potential bait n switch Superior location to EV for sure, IF built as-shown day 1 (cap park included) wil...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I've enjoyed following the debate throughout this thread. Excited to see what the Royals have come up with. To me, the design/plan will make or break this; they need to follow through on whatever they promise moving forward, including ancillary development and/or cap park integration. I actually thi...

Re: Bond Bridge Question
One must hope that CPKC stadium opening this year next door to the Bond bridge will spur action towards re-lighting. It is a signature component of the view out of the stadium to north. Fingers crossed.

Re: Bond Bridge Question
Where does MODOT stand on safety lighting? The Bond bridge is dark. Not even highway lighting on it. Basic lighting to help illuminate the roadway is needed. As for ornamental lighting why not let Evergy advertise their name on the bridge somehow on the side or roadway, via a light projection. Have...

Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction
While I agree with the criticism of the shameful empty lots around the PAC (and it is embarrassing), let's cut a little slack here for the fact that a big chunk of that land was tied up for years with the assumption that UMKC was going to build their downtown Conservatory (renderings are still float...

Re: What's going on in KC in 2024!?
Several major entertainment/cultural venues set to open in 2024, all clustered around downtown: CPKC Park/Current NWSL Pennway Pointe Rock Island Bridge Rabbit hOle (NKC) Hoping we finally get some details on the stadium situation with Royals and Chiefs, sooner than later. Streetcar extension should...
