Re: P&L Famous Daves being Converted to Old Chicago Pizza
Saying nothing about the merits (or lack of) OC or Uno in general, I do like the idea of having another sit down place in the district where you can take your 12 year old into that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. True, it doesn't have to be directly in the district, someplace close would be fine. B...

Re: Suburban retail areas, what is their status?
Ricks Picks in the 40 Hwy/Noland Rd area is now closed and the Hobby Lobby across the street is moving to The Falls. With Ricks Picks(the old Best Buy), Hobby Lobby(when they move), and the old Sams Club buildings vacant not to mention all the other vacencies makes the area look run down and ghetto...

Only TGI is better. Streetcar sucks IMO. One thing about Streetcar that always got to me were those tiny glasses that hold about 6 onces (maybe) of soda. Getting refills were both absolutely necessary and damn near impossible. Note that all verbs are past tense - I haven't been in there in years....

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,472304,00.html Interesting article, but the thread title should be More Auto Worker Union Waste. There is nothing in there about this having anything to do with the execs of the Big Three - although I'm sure they have boondoggles that will make this look lillipu...

Obviously it's not a good idea to leave younger kids unsupervised, nor would I or any sane parent do so. I was thinking of the older kids.... teenagers and above. You know, those few years where they're old enough to be by themselves for a while, but still too young to be completely independent. Th...

It's weird how stores get reputations for being expensive, even when they aren't appreciable different from other stores. My son's crummy high school job is as checker at a Hen House. The store manager tells every person they hire that somehow they've picked up the "more expensive" rep, a...

Re: Diverging Diamond Interchange at Front Street & I-435
Springfield is going to beat us for the first American Diverging Diamond. MoDOT will build one at the intersection of Route 13 and I-44 on the north side of the city. Scheduled to start in January 2009 and be finished by the fall. http://www.modot.org/springfield/major_projects/Greene/I-44andRout...

I find it amusing that the terms "beer bong" and "jello shot" might actually be incorporated into Missouri state law.

Re: Hilltop Plaza-143rd Strret and Pflumm Road
Like mgsports noted, they haven't even started building anything up at 135th and Pflumm yet - why start down at 143rd? Pflumm is still a badly maintained two-lane road south of 143rd. Maybe they just want to get the zoning done. I hope this isn't taking out the boarding stables there. One day I d...

Re: Salvage Yard
I can't find the name, but there is a scrap yard over by the stadiums. You drive onto the scale, go dump your crap off, and then stop on the scale again - they pay you for the diff. I hauled off a couple of dryers and dishwashers and just enough to cover the gas to drive out there and a sandwich f...

oh, they didnt even have a conference then? that would explain it then. i remember that team slightly, and remember the crowds at muni getting larger and larger during that run. Fun listening to the guy next to me whine about the money we spent on the musical hall and how nothing had changed in it. Apparently he didn't notice the missing center aisle? Or the staggered seat placement? Most of the improvements were behind the scenes - the expanded fly space, the stage is de...

Why in the hell do we need government licenses to go stand before a priest and go through a religious ceremony? Why should people who undergo a particular religious ceremony be given preferential citizen status? If it were just a religious thing, then you are right - no government "sanction&q...

Thanks, Slim. That helps.
You think someone who's father was a highway and traffic engineer for 40 years would understand this at some innate, genetic level. But, alas, not it my case.

In the "how does this effect me?" department, if they eliminate the at-grade points in Vernon County, it'll add 20 minutes to the drive out to my mom's farm.
How dare they?
