I understand that the surrounding development costs are lower but what about the construction cost of the stadium by itself?

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Talk about a monkey wrench thrown into the process. The Royals had what 5 sites that were narrowed down to two and now one of the five is added back in. This whole process looks more and more like a botched operation. It's what happens when there are a lot of moving parts. Glad there is a lot of th...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The royals wanted to build a big ballpark district but this shrinks the size of the development needed as it sits in or near a pre-existing entertainment district. Wasn't the proposed entertainment district to be used to support the team? So if the team develops a smaller area wouldn't that affect ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
An article today mentioned it's going to cost slightly more to renovate the K. Explain to the taxpayer that spending the same money to renovate your old house in a bad neighborhood isn't smart when you can build new in a better neighborhood. Given that both stadiums were constructed at the same tim...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
But one has to remember there are more voters living in JaCo outside of KC than in KC in JaCo. And I would think that those in JaCo outside of KC are the ones who need to be convinced of accepting a Royals move downtown. They, as a whole as I take it, like the stadium where it is at currently. As I ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Given how the JaCo use tax failed the approval of the sales tax extension for a downtown stadium could be questionable. Within KCMO portion of JaCo the yes vote was more for the tax. JaCo outside of KCMO the no vote overwhelmed the yes vote especially with the number of voters exceeding the number o...

People tend to forget that during the entire Reagan Administration interest rates ranged between the highest 16.63 percent and the lowest at 10.19 percent. https://www.bankrate.com/mortgages/historical-mortgage-rates/ But you could buy a nice house for 75k not 575k Don't forget pay was much lower t...

MLB should not be playing the WS this late. NBA has started. NHL has started. NFL is in the middle of its season. College football is just warming up. Just too many other distractions. Not only in people's minds but also in the press. At the same time let's face it these teams are not the best of th...

I did read it. Now, are you saying the Star lied about its source? If so what proof do you have besides speculation? I was wrong. Prob change your username. So that is your response to my question. So indeed you are speculating. Your speculation is no different than the cost report that is being re...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Let's talk baseball! We even had recent news on this with Jackson county apparently not approving what the royals wanted. Not sure how the JaCo legislature as a whole feels about supporting a downtown stadium but my assumption is that if that is what KCMO wants then let KCMO solely have a tax to su...

"Option 2: 300-350 million dollars over a twenty-year-period." The Royals take out a 20 year loan with these funds paying P&I over that period. Clearly the county is unhappy with the team leaving TSC and this shows it. "Won't pass a vote" At this point of time that is quite p...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
My thought was maybe Jackson Co finally started negotiating with them in good faith and so now they're having to delay to get it done. They are still saying April vote so timeline overall is the same. My take is the Royals put the cart before the horse. Is the county blameless? Of course not but th...
