And creepy young men as well.  Don't forget the creepy women in the area.  Probably some creepy bisexuals as well.

Re: Fire Alarm Exchange Building@22nd and Gillham

I was always interested in its function.  Did people sit there and monitor when fire alarms went off, and dispatch fire brigades to potential fires?

Re: Postcards From the Edge of Time

I can't believe that a building of that size could have been on the One Park Place/BMA Tower site and none of us know what was there, or no one has seen any photo of it. Obviously, we need to ask some older people. Cyclops, ask your parents if they remember.  That aerial photo was taken in 1930.  Th...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

The best way to get movies filmed in Kansas City is to have stories with the setting being in Kansas City. Thus, you need authors and screenwriters using Kansas City in the narrative. We have very few writers living here using Kansas City as a character or setting. The problem is further worsened wh...

Re: Postcards From the Edge of Time

Here is an aerial of the area surrounding Penn Valley Park.  Note the left side I've made a square around a rather large building on 31st St. in a treed area.  Does anyone know what that building was?  It's north of where Penn Valley Community College is now.  It would be where One Park Place and th...

Re: Postcards From the Edge of Time

There was also temporary barracks housing built in Penn Valley Park during WWII.  I'll try and find the aerial photo that shows it.  I think it might have been for the military personnel training in KC during the war. It was just south of the Old Post Office building, and west of the Liberty Memoria...

Photo from 1890 shows the All Soul's Church on the east side of Broadway looking south between 9th and 10th streets.
