Re: Light Dimmers

Yes, it's incredibly f'in easy. If you are going to somebody at Home Depot for advice, you shouldn't be doing it at all. Dimmers have wattage limitations and more points of failure than a standard switch. While it's not likely to be the installers fault, if the dimmer is bad, you get some heat, sta...

made the mistake of trying to go here this weekend, what a hell hole, reminds me of a mega truck stop in the middle of nowhere.  Must of been back to school folks, last year didn't seem so bad.

Re: RIP Melbee's

Went there tonite with the family, great as usual.  Place was packed, in the past would be half full on a weeknite.  The owner said he was going to go on a permanent "farewell" tour like all the aging rock stars.  They will be missed, high class and unpretentious with killer martinis.

Re: Blanc Burgers & Bottles

Most of the office went for lunch today, 5-6 people, consensus was very positive except for the wait, and this is not a typically foo crowd.  Give them their food for luch!  Apparently it's now on the permanent lunch list.

Seems like Mission hit a peak about the time the Fine Arts left, then a slow stagnation.  Maybe my imagination.

Re: P&L Art Fair

I've been to quite a few art fairs and I'm pretty convinced it is a major industry backed by national companies. The art produced at each art fair I've been to - Plaza, Brookside, Westport, P&L, art fairs in other cities are almost all exactly the same. The type of art you will find is formulaic in...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Not sure if this was brought up but The Lookout has been on cable lately, a thriller based around KC area (but shot in Canada as usual).  It has Blvd Beer all over it.  An above average thriller at that... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427470/ I saw that!  They were a bit confused tho...

Re: Storm damaged Qwest Center, Omaha

Actualy that looks like shoddy workmanship like the first photo. It just goes to show how contractors are cutting corners to get the job done quicker.  I have issues with gyp board exteriors along with faux stucco on insulation board as well, but it's not a workmanship issue, it was probably i...

Re: P&L Art Fair

Art fair is going strong....from the comments in the crowd, this is a lot of people's first chance to see the district and they were eating it up. Lots of unique art and seemed more reasonably priced than the plaza art fair....definitely much smaller but still cool to have downtown.  Should do...

Re: The End of Oil

I got a Prius this year, and it tells you your gas mileage while you drive. It has really affected my driving, as I'm a pretty competitive person and I try to get the maximum mileage possible (got it up to 50 mpg last week!) Anyway, I've read that other car manufacturers are putting similar gauges ...

But I still absolutely love it.

As someone who eats lunch on SW Blvd and 39th St area, 12 bucks seems average for sandwich, fries/chips, drink and tip
