Re: OFFICIAL - Embassy Suites (former Federal Reserve)

How long has this debacle been going on with turning it into an Embassy Suites? And what's up with the Hampton being completely closed for renovations? It doesn't seem like it's been open long enough to need a full-scale reno where they couldn't just close one floor at a time.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

Just out of curiosity - it seems ever year or two there are tornado warnings that ended up sending airport customers into the tunnels to the parking garages at the old KCI. Where are the storm shelters in the new terminal?

Re: Capping the Loop

One thing I don't see in that diagram is any capacity to add food trucks to the park edges. There should be some sort of paved indents along Truman on both sides with electrical hookups for the trucks. This would activate the park more than any single thing and would take care of a problem: lack of...

The pocket park shows stairs and a tiered lawn - no better way to discourage usage than that lol

A "sphere" photo of the district. Read more on the "Chris Stritzel's Drone Photos" thread. https://www.skypixel.com/photo360s/power-and-light-district?utm_source=copied&utm_medium=PCWeb&utm_campaign=share&sp=0 Really nice! And puts into perspective the huge gap left ...

Re: Westport

Looks like the shabby building on the SE corner of 39th/Broadway caught fire last night. Sounds kind of extensive. Maybe this will lead to demo and development of something more urban and appealing. https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/fire-crews-respond-to-blaze-in-midtown-kansas-city-thursday-night

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Mammoth's release of renderings of the stadium is laughable on the nostalgia front. Copper in the design to remind people of the Star printing plant that used to be there, brick to remind people of the West Bottoms - who cares?!? Just design something that works. Modern to somewhat mirror the T-Mobi...

Re: Troost developments

I hope Ollie Gates isn't involved - I'm not a fan of what the area transitioned into. The best I can say is that a lot of junkety sections got cleaned up, but there is soooo much wasted, empty space. I feel like if any other developer had done that there would have been screams of gentrification. Si...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

A shuttle could stop at only one or two places to let people off (not on) at, while a bus could stop at every block if riders required. Shuttles could also be designated as destinations like downtown/Plaza or JoCo and not have any stops in between.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

Using the Rate Information Card going from KCI to my home in Volker would cost a minimum of $64.30 plus traffic delay time. Super Shuttle is $47. How is there not a company running a bus or van from the airport to downtown-ish and charging $40? There is a bus to downtown and instead of $40.... it's...

Re: Oak Park Mall

If Oak Park loses two big anchors, but the rest of the mall remains fairly stable, I could see this going to way of Westfield Old Orchard in Skokie Illinois. They’ll build some mixed-use buildings in a bid to start turning the mall into something more of a neighborhood hub rather than standalone de...

Re: Oak Park Mall

Oak Park really needs to figure their shit out. That Dillard's South store is huge, but at least it does have some covered parking attached to it. That Nordstrom store is way to big and their target demographic has continued to move further south. I don't see it sticking around in it's current form ...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!

Over the past 5-6 years I've become convinced the selection committee is more concerned about ratings from potential second/third round matchups or other appealing storylines than fair and equitable matchups based on their own parameters like Kenpom or Quad 1 wins. It doesn't make sense to try and m...
