Re: gomer's - midtown

I don't really care if the entrance is in the front, the only reason why i like buildings on the street is because it makes walking better, it seems like people blend in more with the surroundings instead of stick out like a sore thumb when you have all the buildings set back. That's the whole poin...

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment

It was in rough shape, but very restorable, in my opinion. There were many interested buyers, including the neighbors on both sides. For reasons nobody seems to understand, the owners started demolition without permits and were stopped by the city, who were alerted by concerned neighbors. They did r...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

OK, I checked out Snow & Co. The folks working there were nice, all of the above comments are right on. Against my usual habits, I tried a frozen cocktail. It was good and expensive. I will probably never do that again, but I would get a Tank 7 (on tap). I do not have a business degree, or any d...

Let them eat brains. Old folks' brains.
I wonder if Alzheimers is contagious, if contacted orally.

Re: Royals to rename Kauffman Stadium

I think this is good. It brigs some nice attention to the place. Also, I'm concerned that people will get confused and show up at the Kauffman PAC when they're trying to go to a game, or show up at the stadium when they're trying to go to the opera or ballet. That would be a drag. Maybe we can get a...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

From what I understand, the Crossroads created their own, neighborhood-wide variance that any business under something like 1,500 or 2,000 sq. ft. does not have to meet current parking requirements (which were created, I think, in 1959). Why the City and everyone else didn't have the balls to make t...

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

Although I hate to see Kemper Arena go away, since I spent many years working there, I know it has come to the end of its lifespan and it is time for something new for the Royal. Ha! Finally! I've wondered all these years what made you AKP. From what I can tell the dirt floor will always be there -...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

That is highway robbery. I travel quite a bit and it seems like food costs in KC just keep going up while other large metros stay the same. I'm not talking about fine dining, but places like this appear to be higher than similar places in other big cities (i.e., LA, Denver, Chicago, NYC/Brooklyn). I...

The Calico Cat is great. I went there one Sat. and it was a birthday party. They apparently have a birthday party one day a month for all the customers born on that day, free pot luck food in the back room. Had a great time.
