Re: P&L District: 12th & Main Site Proposal
More GOOD news regarding Latteland's prospective hours. all you downtowners need to use these weekend hours if you want less dark stuff on weekends. M-F 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM Sat-Sun 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM I'm very excited about the weekend hours! Finally, a coffee shop in the CBD that has normal weekend h...

Re: P&L District: 12th & Main Site Proposal
The people working at LatteLand on The Plaza the weekend said it would be opening mid-August and were very excited to have a store downtown. I asked about weekend and evening hours and they said they weren't sure but would assume the hours would be similar to their other locations and that they'd b...

Re: The Jones Ultra Pool
it's an entertainment district. everyone knew what they were signing up for when they moved next to it. I know what I signed up for living downtown. I don't mind downtown noises...and am fine with P&L noise. I can hear it (most weekends I can hear Howl at the Moon), people, traffic, dogs bark...

Re: The Jones Ultra Pool
Not trying to be an old cranky lady, but isn't there a noise ordinance downtown? I'm all for The Jones playing music and I understand that it's outside, but the volume is ridiculous. I live two blocks away and can hear the music clearly with my windows closed. Forget about going outside and tryin...

Re: Panhandling Out of Control?
I've definitely noticed it getting worse in the last week or so. Probably the warm weather, but they've never been this aggressive. I'm in Oppenstein park several times a day walking my dogs and get catcalls and swarmed almost every time I go out. I'm used to the bums hanging out, but I'm not use...

Re: Apple's new hardware
I was really hoping the iPad would have a full OS on it instead of it just being a giant iTouch. If it could replace my MacBook, I'd buy it in a second. I already have an iPhone...I don't need one in hulk size.

Re: BMA Building To Be Converted To Condos
As investments, condos can be as good or better than homes. Some of the condos on the plaza have skyrocketed in price over 10 years (I believe a $180k in the townsend in 2000 now goes for $650K). BTW, some of these maintenance costs cover everything--heating,a/c, water, cable tv, longterm bldg repa...

Re: When will the residential component of KC Live be built?
Cordish scrapped the residential towers long before the recession hit. There was supposed to be at least one tower open along with the first phase of restaurant/retail, which obviously didn't happen. Cordish may have scrapped it internally, but they gave every appearance of moving forward on them ...

Re: When will the residential component of KC Live be built?
Those plans got scrapped when the real estate market tanked. There's no way any new residential condo building will get built in this market in this city. I'm sure they're hoping that at some point they'll get built, but not anytime soon.

The Pickwick developers are closing on one of the parcels (there are 2) the first week of March. They're trying to decide on whether to apply for the income restricted credit, which would mean several million $$ for them, in addition to the historical credit. The problem with doing that is they ha...

Re: OFFICIAL: Wallstreet Tower ( was:US Bank Tower going condo)
understood. i am on the board of my decidedly less well-heeled condo and we take responsibility for major repairs, especially those that affect external appearance. hence my assumption that it's a larger, more expensive problem than anyone is willing it divulge. It's much more complicated than a qu...

Re: Fed will sell headquarters to Townsend
I do know the sale went through and Townsend's team will be working with them through the renovation and construction process. No info on when they'll get started yet. I'm not sure which company bought it, but I'm pretty sure it's a fairly well-known hotelier like Marriott or Hyatt. The vault lev...

Despite the unpredictable service, I went again on New Years eve before a movie. Not many people, but it was early...around 7pm. And it was snowing like crazy. We ordered drinks and they didn't get to the table until we were almost done with our food so they didn't charge us for them. Our waiter...

Re: KC in TV and Movies
I don't think it was filmed in KC. Somewhere in Louisiana, I think. Weird, considering it was supposed to be the KC Federal Reserve. I wonder if filming is difficult here because during a 3 or 4 month shoot the weather would change too much.
