P.S., in all seriousness, where should I go for lunch today and what should I order? I'm trying to do the full KC Metro BBQ circuit before I return to my beloved LC's.

If you haven't been there, go to Woodyard on Merriam Ln, just west of Lamar.

Re: Northeast Liquor store proposal fights for density variance

Lawyers write the rules and they get approved by council. The regulated industry staff enforces them, but only selectively and often erroneously. I have seen firsthand how they look for ways to deny licenses  and use bogus interpretations of the ordinances. I believe strongly that many of the people...

Re: BBQ WARS!

Gates has the best ribs in town and if you don't agree, you're wrong. And they are consistent. Sometimes, though, the guy cutting them may have graduated last in his class at ribtech, or maybe it's just too difficult to cut them correctly when you're not looking at them cuz you're too busy sneering ...

Clay is like a classic horror movie character who will always return for a sequel.
I wish he would make like his last plan and be gondola.

Does your Panasonic  DMC-LX3 always shoot in a square aspect ratio or is that a special setting you use?

Re: (Another) New hookah bar - 39th St

There seem to be more substances available now that tread the thin line between legal and illegal substances you can smoke - synthetic cannabis like K2 for example. I'm gonna have to assume that you have never been in a hookah bar and that you're probably 2x the age of most of the patrons. They smo...

Animal Control is not going to be able to catch these dogs, even if they were to get out of their vehicles, which they probably won't. I see them in CP all the time and these dogs are smart and know how to survive, which means they know to stay away from people. If you're feeling threatened, do what...

Although I haven't thought of this, it seems so obvious. STRETCH, you better make sure there's a bean special that night. And put some whoopie cushions on the picnic table benches.

Re: Historic Union Hill apartment buildings being torn down

Totally agree. From what I understand there are a lot of landowners sitting on land waiting for another real estate boom, unwilling to sell to developers now. I am afraid you do not understand. Landowners are sitting on land because no one will buy it because no bank will loan to develop it. It is ...

This is largely true, but I wouldn't lump Mariner in with his father/brothers. He is a younger guy who is actually pretty progressive. Spends most of his time in Denver, so he understands what a thriving downtown can do for a city. I can understand being upset with some of the Kemper family decisio...

Re: Bakery/restaurant redevelopment for midtown Katz

Give an example of a bar or restaurant that has unjustifiably been outright denied a liquor license.  Sure, the process is painfully slow, but, I can't think of any really good establishments that had to shut down because a church in their area pulled out their church card. I don't think you unders...

Cheesecake Factory. The one time I ate there, I felt that I had suddenly woken up in the middle of a Hunter Thompson/Ralph Steadman pukatoria nightmare hallucination. I may have even inadvertently committed some violent acts in my desperate maniacal quest to escape at any expense and top speed.

Re: Flooding on the Missouri

How long do they expect the flooding to last in that area?  It's a goofy reason to ask, but some friends and I are going on a motorcycle trip the first week of August and we've traveled up I29 in the past.  Just wondering if we should be planning an alternate route or not because I've read that the...
