Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
Good points. Also agree likely Atlanta (or Dallas). If bus is acceptable as tactical transit in short term, Dallas could be a player if coming up with a solid rail plan. And if bus is tactically acceptable, KC could make at least a long list especially if they make the bus system free as Dave has me...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
I don't think I've seen a single one of those articles that has so much as mentioned cost of employment. If Amazon doesn't really care much about saving a billion dollars a year versus more expensive metros, then KC isn't going to have much of a chance. But if Amazon does put serious weight on the ...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
AMZ didn't mention if building an AWS data center but if so KC needs to pitch that the metro does have local offices from most of the IT companies.. Microsoft, Cisco, EMC, etc. And don't know if they use consulting firms but Deloitte, PriceWaters, etc too. Most mid-sized markets do too but should pr...

There's some indication that AMZ likely to be interested in states with no income tax. MO would need to come up with something to offset it.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
Would make sense to include some form of a rail strategy with the proposal that parallels Amazon's growth. And while bus isn't ideal, the City should strongly pursue 'free' bus service tactically as has been discussed in other threads. Good article on case it may be a major city... Chicago, Dallas, ...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
I don't support this project on the grounds that the buildings might look like a wall. Snarkiness noted but com'on now, those of us annoyed by the good possibility of a monotonous Cordish wall are not at all opposed to the project, just trying to sway making each building different while there is a...

Bloomberg doesn't think mid-tier cities like Austin, Charlotte, Raleigh can accommodate what Amazon wants. They are thinking Toronto, Boston, Washington, Atlanta, Dallas or Denver.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
The city should pitch locations along streetcar line, heavily emphasizing streetcar is free. The lots near 8th/Wyandotte are large enough for several hirises. And then can extend to North Loop if it makes sense.
