I would think there would be no need for above ground parking garages. The trench is pretty much already cut for underground parking. It should be buildings only above ground on the standard grid and at a significant height requirement.

I like that they are talking about the useable amount of land made available. But, I almost worry that that land won't be used well and that they'll take the opportunity to building some sprawling fortress 'since they have the space'.

I just disagree. We need a high class hotel for KC residents, not just out-of-towners coming for a convention. Proms, business meetings/parties, couples celebrating anniversaries, etc. If it's merely a box to stuff convention attendees, it's design matches it's boring function. It could be more.

I kind of hate that this is being called a 'convention hotel'. I understand that it's connected to the convention center and that it is being built to help drive that business, at least for the city. Yes. Was told they have already announced it to their employees. Younger employees are ecstatic, older ones not so much. DT is going to kick some JC butt in a few years when millenials are in more power positions.
