Re: Parlor - 1707 Locust

It's a unique product for downtown to have. If it fails, would think due to high prices rather than the food/vibe of place. Liked the outdoor deck most. KC Pils was $3 special of day when I was there, so there's that. Did the Scandinavian sausages with thin potatoes slices - good but overpriced. Gi...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Has the City ever taken any steps to implement Better Block proposals on a permanent basis? Or is the whole purpose to "get people talking" about how road diets wouldn't completely collapse Kansas City's drive-scape?

If true, the PAC is nowhere near as large as Pershing Square Two.
1800 Walnut and the PAC have nothing in common.

I mean, MIKC doesn't even have the proper hours on their door. I'd say they could at least step that up a tad.

I think this is the one they're talking about--released in May.

I went without a dog and it was still amazing. 10/10 would go back just to drink beer and watch those things sprint around at eachother.

TIL the phrase "thinking about the future" is the same thing as being futuristic. Incredibly lazy.

Hell, I'm happy with anything at this point. Can't believe a prime location like this has just been stagnant for 2.5 years.

Picklemans signage going up on 12th and Walnut. This is finally, actually, visibly happening.

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

Regardless of whether the room model *may* change in the coming years, there will likely always be a demand for luxury or otherwise high-end accommodations. If the City is trying to court larger and larger conventions, concerts, artists, corporate headquarters, etc., my hunch is that those high-end ...

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

Other than factoring in to the decision by CrossFirst to lend money to the developer, that metric doesn't really mean anything (if it is even available). Regardless, that still doesn't change the fact there is zero market push away from what business travelers and more high-end travelers have wanted...

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

If the convention hotel next door has 1000 attendees of a convention or show, they're positioning themselves to be where the guests of honor can stay. Seems like such a narrow market and we already have so many hotels for high end business travelers (Loews, 21C, Crossroads, President, Ambassador, I...

Parlor KC scheduled to open in September. Unless they've made some amazing progress since that photo was taken I don't see September happening at all. (It seems like most places around here end up about 4-6 months off from their planned opening dates.) went by today, building exterior looks done......

Re: 1800 Walnut

Thanks for posting the top-down of the ground floor. I agree that it probably could be utilized better but I'm not sure how that could be done without substantial changes to the makeup of the garage structure. As to Two Light, unless I'm missing something (or have a different definition of "act...

Re: 1800 Walnut

It looks like it would have more street activation than Two Light. And even with all the frontages dedicated to nothing more than a facade for the parking garage, walking around these parts of Two Light has never struck me as "dead".

Re: East Side Development

We can do both. One is effective at providing affordable housing to the very poor in our community. The other just drops rent to make high end apartments accessible to the middle class. We need to get our priorities straight. Not sure how (if at all) this could work, but I'd love to see some langua...

The south side will me a metal siding, with the rest being brick I think. This thing is going to look....odd. I thought this view was pretty helpful. Re: Drury Plaza Hotel

The school district is the entity that appears to have control and power over the future use of this site. Do we know anything specific regarding the terms of their PSA with Drury? PSA...?
