Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread

Star article touches on "city hall's accounting trick" and the redirection of COVID transit funds to LED streetlight program: https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article284353434.html The budget submitted on Feb. 13, 2020, set aside $4.8 million to pay for zero fare buses and paratransit...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

East village is the layup. It’s easy. It’s a big empty unimaginative space. It would be Truman sports complex 2.0 with a stadium and parking lots. But that's not what the team showed. Most developers would kill for an empty space like that, including Cordish for the cleared South Loop that became P...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

How much parking do we consider was built for P&L/T-Mobile? That's the KC requirement for an "entertainment district". We forget that this area has suburban parking minimums (the requirements were only eliminated in the loop and in the Crossroads for two blocks on either side of Main)....

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

It's worth noting that the Grand corridor can support unlimited height, per the Greater Downtown Area Plan, but that scales back considerably going east. There's a lot of space between existing small-scale commercial buildings and tall towers atop massive parking pedestals. That's the challenge and ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I think as long as the stadium is ONLY removing the star building and the two blocks west on grand, I’m good with it. If the blast radius extends past that on any side, though, that’s a problem Oh, it will extend. You think someone won't want a couple of big publicly subsidized garages right there?...

Looking at google maps, I have never noticed how many empty lots are now around the PAC.
All locked up by rich people planning future developments.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I know Dave will not like this comment either, but I will never understand the reasoning behind the location of that little bus transit center clear over on Charlotte unless they actually didn't want it anywhere near anything. Keep it as a smaller transit center, for buses going to the east side bu...

6) The crossroads site will have way more synergy with the surrounding neighborhood. It has breweries around it and places to eat already on 18th, that will develop into a wriglyville of sorts. 18th Street will become a baseball themed street that connects the Royals to the urban youth fields and t...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Kinda confusing, but it looks like the Legislature just voted 8-1 (veto proof) to send the tax to the April ballot. County Exec can veto, but theoretically they could override. He asked for more time. Teams were present and commented.

Because we all know Cordish is behind the East Crossroads push to pad the lid and their residential towers. So transparent. Good luck with all of that goodwill you’ve earned in the community. This shows how little you know. The CITY is behind this location. How many months ago did I say this was th...

Re: KCUR Trashes CID's

CIDs do lack oversight, but the ones she spends most of her time talking about (the ones that are neighborhood focused) do a good job with transparency by comparison.

It's the developer-driven ones that don't hit the mark.

Do RM liquor licenses still get consent from adjacent property owners? Or did the city ditch that like they did in the loop?

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Here's the thing about buses... running more of them later on existing routes just takes a few extra shekels and will not run afoul of federal charter regulations (which is why we no longer have the Chiefs/Royals express routes -- which were beloved AND buses!). The route already existing in every d...
