Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed
You don't have to buy those packs of money I realized. Just add a cc and when you scan to ride you'll be charged your actual amount. How do I get around this? Cause I’ve gotten a message that told me “I don’t have enough credits to start a ride” and I prepaid to get around it. The prepaid method is...

Re: Westport
Seems excessive if not ridiculous on the surface but it's just a few hours window late Fri/Sat night that attracts a raucous leaning party crowd to begin with. Wouldn't mind seeing P&L take more of the party and bridge/tunnel crowd as they did when first opening. Westport needs to focus on turn...

Re: Layoffs at The Star
As well as those are largely more affluent areas you mentioned. I don’t think your typical middle class person around here is gonna be too interested in shelling out the money for a paper subscription when there’s all those other free or “free” methods of media and information that were mentioned to...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
^Yes, I know the field is not owned by the Plaza. But, it begs the questions: 1. If the demand is strong for residential on the Plaza, why the hell haven’t those lots been developed? 2. Have they not been developed because the demand is not there? If so, the more expense proposition of tearing down...

I think I saw something in a magazine article about a new Home2Suites by Hilton in Liberty so it could be that because I'm sure the building you're referring to is down the hill from the new apartments.Slobberknockers wrote:What is going in just to the south of the Chevy dealer in Liberty, thanks in advance.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
As an 18 year old, I can attest that it does seem like there isn't that much for teenagers to do in Kansas City for fun. Yes, we can go see a movie; go to the gym/community center; play video games at home; go to one of the two remaining malls in the metro. But I can say that often we'll just go out...

Briarcliff is within the 15-minute Cerner commute. Has anyone driven from The National in the Northland to downtown during rush hour? How long does it take? My mom used to make this commute to Hospital Hill. It took her about 25-30 minutes depending on traffic. Worst part was always the stoplight a...

Tent is up for the official groundbreaking ceremony today. The site looks packed with construction equipment for today. Pretty good view of all the excitement from the webcam mentioned earlier.

Plus a 6 story 170 unit apartment complex at 48th and Belleview that I couldn't find any renderings for. I believe that would be 4711 Belleview: http://i63.tinypic.com/9fy9sw.jpg I was poking around on NSPJ's website and I found these renderings of this project. https://nspjarch.com/wp-content/uplo...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
This new luxury senior development is being done by Northpoint Development which recently proposed (and was denied) the redevelopment of the Plaza medical building for this same use. So it is highly likely this new project will be mostly the same except at a different location. If I remember correct...

Not sure if I'm posting this image correctly, but for reference, buildings 3 and 4 are the two buildings to the right of the two recently constructed buildings in the middle of the campus. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/q9XY-h13exoxwGVFF5dSuLi2Gt6ESBXGx3iswfTpc8dMszuJ4KQMnNbt76UM8TZCe0kjtA99pP6lr...

Heard this week from members of JE Dunn that "phase two" (buildings 3 and 4) will break ground in spring, sometime around March.

"The general plan is to do a four-story apartment complex on top (of the 85,000-square-foot shopping center) and possibly a hotel on a pad site," said Bill Fleming, general counsel for the architecture firm TreanorHL and Compton's partner in the Uptown Shoppes deal. This statement makes m...

if KCATA were to "refresh" main MAX while we wait for the streetcar extension in 2022-23, what changes would you make? 5. Remind the bus drivers that people get on the bus dressed for the weather, so maybe running the heater a 95 degrees anytime the outdoor temperature is below 75 isn’t t...

There is. They mentioned this idea a lot at the meeting last night. SOM is calling to build the "smartest" airport in North America.kcjak wrote:Is there not an effort to tie airport technology into the Smart City initiative? Seems like a no-brainer.

Re: Bike Lanes
I’ve yet to see a single bike utilize the bike lanes downtown around the Power and Light area. I’ve seen more skateboard nerds than anything. Probably because of a lack of bike infrastructure surrounding it. The people who want to ride in a comfortable/safe environment are likely not biking along j...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner
Curious, 11M-12M sqft would be unprecedented even on a national scale. In comparison, Hudson Yards project in NYC is 6M sqft office and considered massive, though I think long term a 20M mixed use project and not a single company. Sounds fishy but at the rate Cerner is going, they could be thinking...

I just voted for the first time with a big yes! It feels good to have something so monumental to vote on in my first election. :D I will note that I was surprised at how busy my polling location was (a Northland polling station). The people who were working the election tables were surprised at how ...
