We have big suburbs compared to most towns...
But what if they don't want to be a suburb of KC? Good question with no good answer. Residents who feel this way should move, probably. Or request K-DOT reroute I-35 to go wide around them, and build a wall. In other words, I don't really see any reasonable way around it. Olathe is welcome to have ...

Countrified and lack of pride, KC’s biggest obstacles...
We shouldn't be too concerned about what suburbia/exurbia thinks. Urban KC needs to build the urban population base and take care of itself. And that is happening. Hear, hear! However, KC has put itself in a position where a healthy percentage of voters (probably half or more, don't have stats hand...

I keep a horse in my apartment, and I like it that way. I don't understand why all these people have to bash my choices. No reason to bash your choices. None at all as long as you aren't abusing the horse and your neighbors arent' bitching about the smell. The only smell my neighbors have to worry ...

When I was in high school, there was a kid who rode a horse down Troost to school. I wonder if he drove out to pick it up from some big ranch and then rode it from his house down Troost, or if he just kept it in the backyard.

It's really too bad that the only delivery you can get consistently around the city are pizza and chinese. Back on topic, I haven't seen any renderings of the IRS development in quite some time, and I didn't really care for it either. Have there been any new ones?

You should consider contacting The Sham about trading shows. I understand they're trying to get up to Omaha this spring. Also, Jilly's is cool but they're not doing live bands much anymore (gone the way of the DJ), except on Tuesdays (bleh) and you can pretty much forget about the Hurricane unless y...

Hah, you probably see my wife every morning.ignatius wrote:I take the bus to work from the Plaza to Crown Center everyday and have noticed a significant influx of professionally dressed women taking the bus, especially on the 51 line down Broadway but also several on the 56/57 lines down Main.

Re: Sprawl...why?
The answers I got were interesting...below is a summary of their answers. 1. An acre? Does anybody really need an acre? This isn't necessarily relevant, but it strikes me as horribly selfish for one family to hog up a whole acre of space just because they "want" it. I mean, if you're farm...

Are the only businesses that aren't restaurants B. Blaze and that bookstore? I'm not exactly clear on whether Boomerang and Blaze are the same place, what's up with that? Anyway, besides those and Prospero's Books, we have Mr. Z's, Yummy's Market and some new Local Harvest (? -- where Nutty Girl wa...

Bitter maybe, but not all that far from the truth as far as I can tell.Mayor Barnes is a bit player in the cess pool of Kansas City politics. The powers that be bought and paid for her.

Yeah, it's too bad they couldn't save the "Reebok dude" building, if for no other reason than it was iconic of downtown KC for so many years. Surely anyone who has been downtown since the mural was done (1984?) remembers it.
But I'm hoping it'll be more than worth it.

I know some of y'all will be skeptical, but I think it demonstrates that Barnes really is more concerned about the welfare of the city than her own political ambitions. It may, or it may demonstrate that Barnes is concerned enough about her political career to not risk political suicide by abandoni...

I like River-Crown-Plaza, it's just too much of a mouthful, I think, to fall into common usage: "You going down to River-Crown-Plaza tonight?" is a lot more syllables than, "You going downtown tonight?" However, condensing it into RCP, or ARR-SEE-PEE could be kinda cool. I didn't...
