Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

Are they offering to reimburse their employees for private schools as well? $5K isn't exactly a large enough incentive to make it worth any family to put their kids though the Hickman Mills School District. Lee's Summit wants to annex 96 acres from KC for the Paragon Star project and they they are ...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

my company sent out a "don't forget to vote" thing and talked about the advantages the airport gives us today. Smart move to get the corporate citizens nudging people.... I think the thing is there is nothing else on the ballot. The pro airport people are way more likely than the negative...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Missouri could undercut any Kansas airport in one day. The state would have to issue the bonds and even then... One of the main points the recent proposals made was that kci has runway infrastructure that other cities would beg for. A Kansas airport is a pipedream. Kansas isn't going to replace KCI...

Re: Historic Elements of Country Club Plaza - Slowly Disappearing

It's difficult for me to see it the way it is now. I worked in the offices of Caldwell's Shoes (over the grocery store; next to Country Club Bank where Jan Stenerud & Len Dawson worked at the time) in 1971-73. I miss those days of lunch at Putsch's, getting prescriptions delivered by the pharma...

Re: Sprint sale rumors again

Looking like TMobile/Sprint will target announcing an intended merger by October. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/09/report-t-mobile-sprint-finally-figuring-out-this-merger-thing/ TMobile CEO may lead the combined company, which could be bad news for KC unless they realize how m...

I don't think they will change this at all, i remember a quote by another Cerner like company moving here a few years ago say something like "Downtown Buildings" do not fit the office type/environment of health software companies or something to that affect how many software developers ar...

Re: Did section 8 housing kill Bannister Mall?

I hear reports that housing prices are climbing in the Red Bridge area due to Cerner. Know of one house in particular that has increased over $100,000 in less than 3 years and many houses have been improved and updated for sale in a longer period of time. I'm sure Burns and McDonnell is also helpin...

Re: Did section 8 housing kill Bannister Mall?

At one time, much like parts of the KCMOSD, the schools suffered from students having to change schools because of the high rate of moving with the rental housing. Sante Fe use to be the #1 school, that is 35 or so years ago. http://kcur.org/post/heres-how-hickman-mills-became-forgotten-community-k...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

In Cerner's case they are going after college grads who would more likely want to live downtown anyway. And downtown is getting schools and developing towards family living anyway, so many may not 'grow out of city living', as it this the case with professional leaning families in much larger citie...

Re: Did section 8 housing kill Bannister Mall?

Warford IS THE PREMIER of the district (actually not a terrible school). Smith Hale Middle, where I work, is pretty rough. I'll have my third all new administration team in as many years. From the school stand point, IMO, with out a lack of cohesiveness in our school buildings many of the problems ...

Re: Garmin Expansion

Garmin probably wants to get into the car dashboard business to replace the OEM units. The OEM car units are pretty much the only GPS devices left where you still see companies charging exorbitant prices to upgrade the maps. I remember prior to 3 to 5 years ago it was somewhat pricey to get map upg...

This is just wrong, Town Center does not have tennis courts or a run off creek.
but it does have a drug store
