Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The Royals royally messed up. They chose at the last election to renovate their stadium instead of moving downtown. I’m fine if they now realize that huge blunder and want to put significant money into being where they should have been decades ago. But, they aren’t. They’re basically getting three f...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I don't know how to fix it, but as bad as people from the suburbs are about crime in the city, they are not entirely wrong. And I HATE saying that. All true. Same here, as much as I hate to say it. Crime is too high. Homelessness is a major issue. Poor transportation. In desperation to come up with...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
They love DC. I love DC. But when you get a taste of what it's like to live in a city with incredible infrastructure, that's highly walkable, very good recreation, high services and almost no crime crime and blight compared to American cities and more of the population is educated and well traveled...

Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
^Great Depression cleaned out a lot of the government building bureaucracy and also provided super cheap labor. Politicians were just doing anything to shorten the soup kitchen line and keep crime down. Had to be a crazy time. Not sure what we’d do now in the same circumstances. I guess just slash i...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
This is about downtown Kansas City finally knowing our worth. We don’t have to desperately take any deal brought to the table and deals have to be fair. We shouldn’t be negotiating from a place of weakness, like we did with Cordish and P&L. I'm trying really hard to see downtown KC in the same ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Perhaps you’re right but I still don’t know why it’s a shitty deal. I understand the idea maybe we don’t have enough detail to properly evaluate the quality of the deal overall. I’m honestly far more concerned about NKC but know Kansas is salivating too. Tell me what percentage of their own money t...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I just hope if it fails they actually try again and don’t simply take the easier route and abandon the downtown concept. That’s the biggest risk here. Won’t happen. First, the Royals would be stupid to slight half their customers. Missouri side would boycott that stadium like crazy. Second, they’d ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Yes, because making that deal with them helped get downtown where it’s at but we are not Austin or Nashville. Fucking this up and ending up with no downtown stadium will have drastic consequences. I’m not exactly sure how this deal isn’t fair even with what we know right now? I wish people could im...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I'm away so couldn't wait. Terrible royals roll out, terrible chiefs roll out, pardon for almost killing a girl, ask for more money for the stadium with no plans, no plans solid for the "district". Will vote no on Monday. Before this rollout, I would have said there is zero chance I would...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Apparently the Hallmark Store on the Plaza is closing shop too (per City Scene). How many stores will be left when Highland Park takes over? If that happens. Price goes down for each new vacancy. Not necessarily a bad thing if sold to a quality developer who can immediately fill space with their ow...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
Maybe but T-Mobile was purpose built for two levels of suites and arrowhead was not. You’d end up with very low and cramped ceiling heights on the level 100 concourses. They’d have to completely modify the structural design of the club level and decrease the overall stadium capacity significantly. ...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
The 200 level or “Club” level is already all suites. That’s their top tier but there’s another customer out there that can’t afford the top tier. The 100 level suites are great as corporate suites or game by game rentals. There are thousands of seats on the club level. I used to have season tickets...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
They are making the level 100 concourse full suites all the way around from what I know. Why? Who wants to spend top dollar on a suite behind everyone standing up in the place normally reserved for the Dippin Dot vendor? Put suites all in 200 level where you can be in your suite for entertainment a...
