Re: Mill Creek Urban Renewal Area (midtown) in St. Louis
They probably wouldn't be worth all that much. There are thousands of those houses just north of there that are rotting.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Baseball America editor JJ Cooper had quite a bit to say about Glass's comments on Twitter today. His take: Glass is lying. Paid more in 11 ($21 million roughly total) but averaged spending $9-10 million on draft from 2007-2011. $7.5 million in 2012. New CBA limits amateur bonuses, Royals limited to...

Re: St. Louis
Absolutely. A friend of mine is going to take me on a tour of all the positive developments between the SLU campus and downtown. He's very excited about what's going on. I think it's going to center on Urban Chestnut's Octoberfest next year. I have to give SLU some credit for anchoring that part of ...

Re: Mill Creek Urban Renewal Area (midtown) in St. Louis
An old thread, but I found this document and though it was worth linking to. It is a 1970 report on all the urban renewal projects in St Louis. Ugh. http://urbanreviewstl.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/historyofrenewal.pdf I also found this brutal photo showing the massive clearing the did to the h...

Re: St. Louis
We were at SLU a couple weeks ago and I was appalled with what the university has done. They've ripped down a considerable number of buildings in the last 15+ years. Vandeventer always had a lot of vacant lots, but SLU has only added to that. I think their entire frontage from Forest Park Pkwy to Li...

O'Toole believes residents and businesses long ago abandoned downtown for a reason, so money shouldn't be wasted trying to revive it. San Antonio, he said is a modern city, and "doesn't need a downtown." http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/article/Streetcar-opponents-reopen-debate...
