Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

HAs there been an announcement or are you just doom-posting?

Also, the NKC location is fine. Big miss for KCMO, but as far as having baseball in the city it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

So does the round anti-roundabout at Meyer and 63rd as well as the bum-uda triangle at SW TRFWY and Westport Rd.

Re: Another KC's "best" BBQ Article

I would agree that some of it is super commercialized--especially the likes of Dickey's, Rudy's, and Bill Miller, of which our closest comparison might be Jack Stack or Gates Rudy's is almost doable if you can get them to cut and serve the brisket right. A lot of places in Texas cut off the burnt e...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

It's not just you. I think Kauffman is a top 10 ballpark, no question. But it's okay to tear it down and replace it. It also would not bother me in the slightest if they tore down Wrigley and maybe Fenway though.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

One person's comment on a Facebook page. Of course the comment was supported by many. "Anyone wish to enlighten me and name at least one professional sport stadium moved from a suburb or outskirts into a downtown? I'll buy that one beer to prove me wrong but I don't think there has been even o...

3rd smallest if you include the White Sox.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I'm a lifelong fan, and regularly attend games still. I will attend more games in either NKC or downtown than at TSC, and while I probably would attend a few more game in downtown, I don't have much preference. The NKC site would still be, in my mind, and enormous upgrade over the EastKC/Independenc...

Maybe, this is me turning from an idealist dreamer about Kansas City to a realist. I lived in Austin in the 90s. I've seen Portland boom. Visited friends for long periods in Brooklyn in 2000s. I have seen in Kansas City what those places had before they boomed with increasing levels of development....

Hear, hear...though I'm not sure there's any ballot box support for it in that neighborhood either.

Re: UMKC projects

How would one do that vis-a-vis BKS BLVD? The neighborhood is intact, every home there has more automobiles per household than they did when the Boulevard was built in its current state. Where would the increased traffic come from? Also, while it seems unlikely, have you not heard BKS NIMBYs shriek ...

I would be satisfied if they just covered the stands. KC in the summer without shade is obviously brutal and getting worse as we all know.
