Re: Art in the Loop New Project
I thought everyone loved that monster next to the Folly. It is especially fun after one has had a few.

Re: Andrews McMeel Publishing to Boley Bldg.
Hopefully someday the draw to be in the center will be sufficient without any TIF enticements, but I do not think that critical mass has yet been achieved. It seems the TIF amount is not that great of an amount for the number of employees and prestige of having Universal DT. The fact that they wan...

Re: thinking of moving downtown
Since moving DT from West Plaza 2 years ago, I spend much more time in my condo than I did in my house. I think it has something to do with being 160 feet in the air surrounded by glass. I never feel closed in and why bother going out just for the hell of it when I can just glance up and SEE all o...

Re: Art in the Loop New Project
The latest installation is a lot more colorful and bold than the last, much more appropriate for the large scale.

On the other hand, the lights on the 29th floor are on very late almost every evening lately. Our new mayor must be putting in lots of overtime!

Re: Illuminate city hall
They replaced the old 30's era fixtures last fall and for a while it was the brightest thing on the skyline. The lights went out shortly after the election and before the Funk was sworn in. Don't know if there is a connection or not. I cannot remember the name of the woman who gave us a tour of c...

Re: Task force considers regulation for rental properties
This is similar to what Carol Marinovich pushed through in KCK. According to her it has had a profound effect on substandard housing stock. Anyone in KCK have an observation?

Too bad, the view south from Delaware juxtaposing the 19th century buildings with Commerce Tower at the distance on a different street grid orientation is one of my fave views of DT.

Re: riverfest 2006
They have done them on the Sat prior to the 4th for the past 3 years. I just wish they would find a good spot to set them off from and stick to it. One year we had to go to the east balcony, one year to the west. Last year they shot them due north of the building so we had to lean (precariously) ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Proposed KCK Casino
Downtown KCK would be an irrelevant place for the casino, as it is too close to the MO casinos. A location would be wanted that will cut off 15 minutes drive for JOCO gamblers. Indian Springs would fit the bill especially if they really wanted to do something for the eastern part of town.

Was up there today. Some views of the homes closer to 169 will be significantly obstructed. Maybe the tops of the DT buildings will appear above the office or hotel roof, maybe not.

Re: OFFICIAL: Proposed KCK Casino
How about putting the casino complex at the Indian Springs site? This part of town could use the shot in the arm, there is easy freeway access, and it is still much closer to JOCO than any of the MO boats.

Re: Developer proposes twin condo towers on Grand (Wellington Place)
There are over a dozen units in the View that would be valued at over a half million. These are places where people purchased 2 units and combined them. The only way I could prove it to you is to take you by the hand and knock on the doors of my neighbors so you can see. And the NE loop is compa...

Re: Developer proposes twin condo towers on Grand (Wellington Place)
There are plenty of people in an even more "isolated" location--the View-- that spent more than half a million dollars. The Wellington is a mere 4 blocks from the P&L, as close as the Alameda or the Walnuts is to the Plaza. Some people like to live on Michigan Ave, some on Lake Shore...

Re: Developer proposes twin condo towers on Grand (Wellington Place)
This is the center of action. Equal walking distance to the P&L, and the River Market. Killer views. Many prospective affluent condo buyers want to be in the periphery of the action, and not necessarily directly above the noise and traffic of an ocean of booze entertainment district. From th...

At this rate the grocery market will be up by the time of the grand opening. At least the streets and sidewalks will be open soon so us pedestrians do not have to make detours or walk in the traffic.
