Re: Mystery Kansas 'Mega Project'
Well downtown could use more variety, including corporate restaurants that appeal to MBAs? But let's face it, KC has mostly suburban minded decision makers on locations. And they love free parking, which Plaza can only offer so much of. But let's just keep blaming it on Kansas for actually giving w...

Re: Mystery Kansas 'Mega Project'
I think the reason, sort of related to what he’s saying^, is that downtown didn’t really become a real destination in KC until like 2016-17ish and most of these companies made their new office decision before that. So back when Populous was moving, the Plaza was probably still the destination of th...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
^really the main way I would see it happening is as grid mentions is families. If you have a family of 4 and can save $250 a ticket that’s $1000 and worth the drive. Not sure how often it will be that much savings. But I can see it in that case. Even two people it adds up. Flights direct from NYC a...

Re: Mystery Kansas 'Mega Project'
Populous moved to the Plaza because it’s a better place to entertain and host team owners, government officials, and team partners. Their reasoning was very transparent.
Burns and Mac likes being close to KS housing and doesn’t have the need to entertain clients that Populous, WR, HOK, etc have.

Re: Mystery Kansas 'Mega Project'
^With KCMO essentially invested in Loews aren't there conflicts of interest? Would probably be easier to upgrade an existing hotel property to a 5 star flag. KCMO came close to getting one with Hotel Bravo. I think we still could with a new developer but the incentive request may need to increase. ...

Nashville took a major hit when they failed to pass Let’s Move. Despite it, dozens and dozens of towers are still in pipeline

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
probably this https://www.lukedraily.com/Projects/legends-267/ 8 story 'Mid Rise Urban Apartments'...if they built this in the river market or mid-town, they'd call it a high rise! All the fastest growing cities are doing it by sprawl, not building their city cores anymore. It’s sad. Nashville and ...

Re: Mystery Kansas 'Mega Project'
Kansas will 100% try to do convention center at village west or expand OP if KC does not make needed investments in the next 15 years. Bartle needs a major renovation. Missing a 5 star hotel. Missing an event plaza (BAP). Missing convention hotels on the level of peers like IND. kansas is 100% will...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
I'm not talking about biz flights etc. I'm more talking about the family 2-3 with trip to Europe. I don't fly to Frankfurt for London for a 3 day business trip. I also don't know how it breaks down, but when I fly overseas, it sure as hell feels like 90% of those on the plane are families and coupl...

Re: Mystery Kansas 'Mega Project'
All these decades of KS going after KCMO companies  Almost thought we weren't going to get a true GRID post The border war was incredibly stupid and harmful from both sides. Having a sane Governor seems to be helping KS although it still has a long way to go. Hopefully this will help her reele...

It totally is both. A unique feature that I’m sure cost more to include.Cratedigger wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 8:16 am Why can't it be both? Is there another building in downtown KC with that element?
Imo it looks cool

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
I am sure some people would make the drive to STL. I am sure plenty of people drive from Indy and STL to Chicago to take flights. But I can’t imagine that number is very big. I also think cost factors in heavily. If the STL flight is cheaper then yes, but if it’s about the same it is probably less ...
