Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
There was an article in The Star a few days ago that went into why the arrivals curb still has issues. Joe McBride said nine of the 22 traffic control officer positions are still unfilled, and the pay for that position starts at $18.61/hr. An anonymous officer said that was a major problem for reten...

Any chance we might see Avelo or Breeze (or both!) coming to KCI anytime soon?

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I'm surprised they finally got a plan together to build a new stadium near the Trop. A lot of people were trying to make it sound like St. Pete was a dealbreaker because, apparently, it "should" be in Tampa since "St. Pete is so far away".

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point
Here are my pictures from today. First one is from a few weeks back showing the ferris wheel cars. Another 50ft wouldn't have made much of a difference view wise from this perspective. Another 50ft only would've made it more prominent in a few places, more so than it already will be. https://live.s...

It's not the size of the wheel that matters, it's the motion of the gondola... or something.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Agree about the roadway signage. I get that it's KCI's heritage that they named the streets after all the world capitals we were supposed to have direct service to with TWA 747s and all that, but the names should be secondary to the things that are reached at that exit. The overhead exit sign for Be...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
AA cut back LGA to 1x a day in October. Seems a little weird to me. They should be getting slots back from JetBlue. I would have thought flights would go up if anything. Weird. Yields are non existent on MCI-NY Area I wonder why that is. Are the yields decent on flights to other large cities (LA, C...

At least JetBlue gives you an excuse to stay overnight at the TWA Hotel and catch your flight the next morning. It's on my bucket list.

I don't think's he's gonna succeed if his goal is to turn OJC into the next BLV. He'll be lucky if he doesn't get drawn and quartered by suburbanites chaining each limb to their Lexus SUVs.

With regard to passenger pickup, where I live the arrivals area can be four lanes full and crazy. What we do is if our arriving passengers don't have checked bags, and in some cases even if they do, we pick them up on the departures level. It's either not very full or even if it is the cars move qu...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Flew through the new terminal for the first time this weekend. Obviously a HUGE improvement over the old terminals. Some nitpicks: I got a burger from the City Market Food Hall, and they were entirely out of pizza before noon on a Friday. They had one super ratty paper menu to read before ordering, ...

Re: Rail to KCI - 2023
Alan Fisher did a good video about the RTD system in Denver and why poor land use planning around stations, specifically all the park-and-ride stations surrounded by asphalt, strangle the ability of trains there to actually get people to destinations. (Warning: Lots of snark, if that's the kind of t...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts and TWA hadn't moved to St. Louis and eventually been destroyed by Carl Icahn then maybe we'd be a TWA hub, but we're not, so we have to work with what we have. And there are disadvantages to being a hub. When Delta had a hub in Cincinnati, it had some of the high...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
I imagine we're still going to run into the limits of low staffing levels this summer, even with the new terminal. I would hazard a guess that accounts for many of the issues people are experiencing.
